I want to learn how to play golf

You have to have the right teacher...and it shouldn't be hard...as long as the teacher is cute!:p

Seriously...I don't think it looks to hard...try driving ranges to start with...they give classes too.

Everytime I see a golf course, I think what an excellent cross country course it would be. Water jumps, fences, hills, galloping sand... *sigh* the greenskeepers get so mad.

It's not a difficult sport. I have no idea why people play it, but it's not difficult.

When I took lessons in 7th grade, it felt like it took the patience of a saint. If you are looking for a sport where you can get good pretty quick golf is not it.

That said, if you are a patient person you might not find it intolerable.

Not so much patient as persistent, I'd say, but it still sounds like a lot of fun.

Girlie, I know what you mean. I always think about how much fun my dogs would have chasing balls on them.

I guess dogs aren't allowed on golf courses, huh?

What about kids?

Fair enough. I think I had an attention span of about two minutes (max) when I was starting to play golf. Persistence, was definately not a quality of mine at the time.

I dunno... the driving ranges around here have mini-golf for the kids. See if you can find one around you that offers something similar.

They're great for cross-country skiing.
I always wanted to stand in cover beside the fairway with a shotgun & see if I could hit the balls on the fly.;)

Don't flies have really small balls?

yuk yuk

Golf is fun, I guess.

It was supposed to be one of those shared hobbies of the ex's and mine, until I started showing better progress in driving and putting than he did. Then it wasn't fun for him anymore.

Hell, I used to kick his ass in computer golf, too.

It's pretty expensive, though...especially if you are a tall, left-handed woman. I eventually went with Men's clubs.

My room mate & I used to live across a golf course , we would love to go out during the summer months & just sit back and see these particular guys play ... by the time they got around to where we were they had their shirts off and the sun was glistening off their tight hard bodies , I never knew golf could be so sexy. :)

As for playing the game, its fun and challenging at the same time.

Think long and hard about learning to play...because...

That first time your driver hits the sweet spot and that little white ball goes SAILING all the way down the fairway with the most satisfying little 'whop' you ever heard in your life, you will suddenly be HOOKED and you will have to purchase the finest of Ping or Callaway clubs and spend every weekend on the course and then have to purchase more clubs because you threw one of yours when you hit a sandtrap and it hit that big oak tree at hole Nine and snapped in two with a crack so loud that all the old fogeys that hang out around hole Twelve heard it and they begin tsk-tsking you while you stomp away with one less seven-iron in your bag and you curse the day you ever thought you could PLAY that fucking game...

Then you show up for your next 7 AM tee time at 6:50, sharp. :(

It's an addiction. There is no patch or cessation group or hope.

Don't go there!

Excuse me, I gotta go check on my tee time...;)

Yes it's hard. Unless you are just a natural at it, which most of us are not. And it requires alot of practice to get good at. Not to mention it's on the pricey side. It took me like a two years to break 100. Then another 2 years to break 90. I almost followed the 2 year pattern to break 80, but 81 is the best I've ever done and that's after playing 7 years. Lessons are definitely the way to go.

Definitely not a sport just to dabble in. :)

I'm with RNAB (as usual). Golf is only fun if there's fake windmills and the chance to win a free game if you shoot a hole-in-one in the dragon's mouth or something. Plus, there's ice cream when you're done!! :D

It's a "sport" that one can participate in long after your body has deteriorated to the point where anything else might kill you. It also gives old guys a legitimate excuse to get out of the house on the weekends and hang around with their friends ... sans the wife.

It is hard, and your tits are too big. Try Bowling.

Bowling is really hard on the nails, and besides, won't my tits be in the way there too?

My tits get in the way when I play pool, but I do it anyway.
