on new year's eve :)

problem: i don't like the taste of alcohol.

solution: all of you tell me about your favorite mixed drinks that don't taste like alcohol but will get me pleasantly wasted tomorrow night.

thank you in advance.

on an unrelated note: law & order is a damn good show.

I hate Law and Order.

The Various Mikes Hard fill-in-the-blank products taste almost nothing like alchohol, so if you simply drink enough of those fast enough (and it's easy too) you shouldn't have any problems getting drunk.

they make my tummy too full.

adam the district attorney on law and order owns your soul.

Lexie,

Have you ever had an amaretto sour?

If not, this is a good choice. It was the first alcoholic beverage I enjoyed a long time ago. It is also one I have recommended to others who didn't particularly care for alcohol.

no i haven't. what's in it?

Amaretto and sweet and sour mix.

Another good drink for those who don't want a heavy alcohol taste is Captain Morgans rum and 7up.

Tastes like a cream soda.

That's easy. Long Island Ice Tea from TGIFriday's.

I swear it tastes just like ice tea but it is 95% booze. One of those alone is all I can have or two with food. More than that and I can't walk straight.

I also dislike the taste of alcohol. If you like the taste of ice tea though, this is the drink you're looking for. Only problem is, I've never had a really good one anywhere but at TGIFriday's. I have no idea what they do differently.

Just drink, &, sooner or later, you won't be coherent enough to notice the taste.lol. But, honestly, go for the Bailey's. Or, you could try a mix, like Rum & Coke. The Coke would dilute the Rum. Or, even better, try Smirnoff Ice. It tastes like Lemonade.

Hello :)

These are soooo yummy....you won't realize you are drunk until it's too late. ;)

Buttery Nipple:
* 1/2 shot Butterscotch schnapps
* 1/2 shot Bailey's irish cream

The Butterscotch Schnapps makes up the bottom layer. The top layer of Baileys should be added using a spoon. This is a layered shot. Delicious!!

Oh, and I was recently turned on to "Apple Pucker" and "Watermelon Pucker"....they taste just like Jolly Rancher candies! :p

Happy New Year!

Watermelon Kamakazie

I've never heard of these, but am too impatient to wait and ask my favorite bartender the next time I see him....do you know what the ingredients are?

Thanx :)

Drink Tuaca, straight. It has a pleasant taste, and an equally pleasant "after burn" in your throat.
It's an Italian liqueur that's a little pricey. I'll bet it tastes good in most soft drinks.

Fuzzy navel
3 ounces peach schnapps
3 ounces orange juice

Combine ingredients and pour over ice in a tall glass

You could always take the avant garde approach and give yourself a wine enema.

does that actually get you drunk? or just burn the hell out of one's anus?

I've never done it, but I have read about it.

Supposedly it does work. It gets you so fucked-up-ly drunk in a matter of minutes because the alcohol goes straight into your bloodstream in your intestines, and circumvents the entire digestive process.

It's something that requires a certain amount of precision in determining the correct ratio of wine to water, from what I've heard. It could be an easy way to get alcohol poisoning if you had too much. But if you did it right, it could definitely be an interesting experience.

Hmm.

You're right, Lexie. Not only would it be dangerous, but the method of administration does not seem to be particularly social. At least not in most circles. :D

that sounds pretty dangerous. i think i'll stick to the old fashioned methods :)

I have found I really do not give a damn after the first couple of drinks anyway, they all taste the same. However coming from the NE UK I am not qualified to discuss drinks not tasting of alcohol. I just finished clearing seven refuse sacks full of empty bottles from the party I had on Saturday. Before you ask yes it did turn into an orgy.....:D

If your intention is to get drunk, then I strongly recommend you steer clear of liqueurs, especially if you are not used to drinking. Fair enough, some people find them palatable but they were not 'designed' for that kind of purpose. Otherwise, there will be more chance of you feeling worse for wear at the end of your partying, or in the morning after.

Take foxinsox's advice and stick to mixing vodka. It's neutral in taste and mixes with virtually anything, a whole range of fruit juices and soda drinks. I don't think I can recommend a particular way to drink it because I have no idea of what you find palatable. Also, to be frank, I don't have a frame of reference for " I don't like the taste of alcohol. " :)

I gather you have a good knowledge of chemistry (I don't I'm afraid) but I know the chemical compounds that majorly contribute to hangovers are congeners. These compounds are responsible for the taste, aroma and colouring of alcoholic drinks. However, the more congeners you intake, the worse your hangover is likely to be.

As a rule of thumb, the darker the colour of a drink, the greater the amount of congeners it contains. Also, the more complex a range of flavours a drink has (e.g. liqueurs) the more congeners it contains.

Vodka has the least amount of congeners. Darker drinks and/or complex flavoured drinks like liqueurs, brandies and bourbon tend to have a lot of congeners. Also, please note that it's a myth that more expensive drinks tend to have less congeners and give you a less of a hangover than cheap drinks. Many liqueurs, brandies and aged bourbons cost far more than vodka or gin.

I should think that you also know that alchohol acts as a diuretic. Dehydration also contributes to hangovers, so drink plenty of water or other non alchoholic drinks during your session.

Finally, you seem like a sensible, intelligent young woman. I'm sure you would know the following anyway but there is no harm in giving a reminder (such is the world today), don't leave your drinks unattended.

Anyway, happy partying and a happy New Year.

Midori and pineapple juice. Actually anything with pineapple juice. lol It's so sweet and yummy it covers just about anything.

You could go with drinks involving Bailey's or Kallua, but they are also really fattening and generally drinking more than a couple of alcoholic drinks invloving dairy isn't the best of ideas. lol
