I've been wanting one for about a year. The problem is, I've yet to see something that really grabs my attention and is something I want on my body forever. :)

I'd love an armband-type thing, but I'd consider any design.

So, any good ideas out there, based on what y'all know of me thus far?

Something witty and intelligent with a touch of naughty :)

I've never gotten one, and always told myself if I did (which isn't likely any more) it would have to be one of my own design.

I do like those spiky, swirly arm designs though. (yea yea, no clue what they're called, they just look neat)

So....Albert Einstein dressed like a Catholic Schoolgirl?

Somehow I don't think my parents would approve. ;)

Thanks, hon...I've just not found that image that sparks my imagination quite yet, but I'm still on the hunt.

They're called tribals.

Jim, I have one and am getting two more soon. All of them express some part of my spirituality. All are of my own design, or at least somewhat customized by me.

For you, I'd say something musical... maybe an armband that's a staff with notes on it? Something that expresses your love of music... portraits can be beautiful... abstract symbols are good too. Explore what means a lot to you, and that you'd like to express... that's the easiest way to ensure it's a welcome eternal addition to your body.

I've been laying with the staff idea. it'd be quite a bit of work and the thought of five solid lines going all the way around my arm makes me cringe a little, but the more I've thought about it, the more I really like the idea. I even have a small self-written tune I could have put in there, but I may just stylize it somewhat.

That would be really cool to have a tune on your arm.
For what instrument and what key is it in?

wuss :p

my tat is a completely filled in design that's 5" tall and 2" wide. Didn't hurt a bit.

For piano, and in the key of C (you think I want flats and sharps on my arm??) :)

JazzManJim,

Finally something I know about. I was like you and wanted one but didn't know what to pick. I settled on a tribal design arm band. BUT BEWARE if you go all the way around with it ....it hurts. I love it and had one done on my shoulder, my other arm and my ankle.

If you want details....give me a PM and I'll tell you more. I really like mine.

:D

I understand that the only real owwie involved in an armband is when they move around the underside of the arm. The skin's a bit more tender there.

The tattoo sounds absolutely lovely. :) I want a closeup view.

That's nice, PCG.

Jim, I like the musical notes of your original composition idea.

I want to get a clithood piercing, but am still working up the courage.

Mine covers my chest, stomach, back and my arms down to my elbows... It has taken 107 hrs so far, isn't nearly finished and hurt like hell. Jim the fact of the matter is that when you are tattooing soft skin like the inside of your arm, there is pain but it is minor, like a bad sunburn, and is over pretty quick.

It sounds like you already have your tat sorted. My advice is to pick the artist you want to do the job, then go and get him to pen the design on your arm. Walk around with it for a few days and see if you are comfotable with it. Have any changes made before you get the needle work done.

Remember, you are the only one who has to be impressed by your tattoo. If you have any questions, PM me. I would be more than happy to help you out, even down to a list of good artists in your area... I have a tattoo artist who is really well known internationally and knows just about everyone in the biz. :)

Jazz ,

Some thing "musical " would be nice for you since you are the music man and all. :)

I have my tattoo and its very simple & clean ... in the sense it does not have to many designs involved in it ...
I do want another one , but I am going to wait for a while. A friend of mine is going to design my next one, he is amazing when it comes to such things and he wants to design one that is me.

But good luck and you know it does not hurt at all. Its like a bee sting .... or at least mine was.... :D

I really like the idea of the musical score around my arm. The pain's no big deal, really. I've hurt myself worse semi-intentionally, so this won't be any big deal.

Now I need to work on the design. That's not to tough either., I mean, it's music, right? ;)

Thanks for all the advice, guy. And for those of you who offered more help, don't be surprised to see a PM from me. I truly apprecaite it :)

Tatts

Looks like u have received some good advice thus far. I personally have 3 tatts and love two of them. lol. Just be absolutely sure you can live with it forever. Make it something you really desire and expresses yourself in. Hope you find the one that is you. Later.

Hmm... As I look at it, there are two kinds of tattos. The ones you get that you regret a year later, and the ones that you love for all of your life. I've been thinking about the tattoo I'm getting on my next birthday for nine years now (Yes, since I was 10 I've wanted it) so I doubt that I'll regret it. Get something that truly has meaning to you, that is an expression of yourself. Part of the way I say tats is to express something that's inside you on your outside, bring it up to the surface in a literal way. Think long and hard Jim, once you get it, there's no turning back.

Love the inkage PCG, it's gorgeous.
