I saw that steel tube fly today. And it made me proud as hell.

I’d like to take a moment to express my gratitude to every proud American who boarded one of this countries’ many fine inventions (the airplane), and took the skies today. No fear. Cuz that’s precisely the attitude, determination, and dedication we all have to take. The attitude that we can’t be broken, or busted. We won’t allow it. No one can hold us down. We always move forward. We don’t recognize feeble cowards. We don’t recognize irrational acts against our freedom. We don’t need more security. We need more self-responsibility. We need more people to do their part – even if it means boarding an airplane regardless of recent events. And we need football this weekend (damnitt!).

I’d certainly encourage others to follow suit (in whatever fashion they are able). And not let this tragedy manifest itself in visible fear. Now is not the time to STOP. That’s what they’re looking for. That brings them joy. That makes them effective. We’re not gonna show it. Simply because – we are NOT afraid. We’re only afraid of an inability to example our country properly. Let’s not fail at that.

Be an example.

I'll be flying week after next... I said this on another thread as well - I personally believe that at least for the next few months flying will be safer then ever.

And I am not going to live my life in fear... I will go on as I always have.

I'm pretty damned certain that anyone who attempts to hijack a plane with knives (or possibly ANY weapon) for the next few years, is going to (as someone succinctly put it) 'torn to shreds'!

I'm thinking that's now a virtual certainty. And I'm reveling in that fact.

Did anyone else today actually NOTICE planes in the air? We are so used to seeing them as part of our normal everyday lives.

This afternoon, when I looked out of my office window, I felt like one of my young nieces excited at spotting a plane in the sky. I stopped in mid-sentence during my phone call to say,"Hey- a plane is flying again!"

I spotted another one in the sky on my way home from work. And I smiled. :)
