Okay so I am trying to create several charather names based on personality so that the name itself automaticlly gives you a sort of hint of what there like. Here are the ones I have thought of so far.

Angelica “Angel” A Cancer- Caring and Nurturing
Katherine “Kitty” A Gemini- Playful and Curious
Candice “Candy” A Virgo- Sweet and Innocent
Miranda “Randy” A Scorpio- Flirtatious and Sexy

Any Suggestions?

Well, you could try www.gurgle.com/baby_namer or www.babynames.com/girl-names

BUT (and it is a big BUT)

names have different connotations for different people. I know many people think of Janet as an eternal eight year old from the Janet and John reading books at school, whereas for many older people in the UK Janet will forever be a sweet elderly housekeeper from Dr.Finlay's Casebook (TV series).

Personally Katherine is anything but "playful and curious" because the one I knew was arrogant and spiteful (and I still have scars to prove it).

Well Snoopy there's no reason to classify all Katherines as being just like your third wife. :p

Either Catherine or Katherine is an 'old fashioned' name - so the character would likely have a strict upbringing (though she might be rebelling). "Caitlin" or other trendy variants would suggest the parents were more 'with it', less strict.

Similar tendencies exist for other names.

I agree with Snooper; it is very tough to come up with names that convey universal connotations. I still try, of course, but I realize that it will not work for all readers.

So I augment them with some attribute that reinforces the concept: Have him always combing his hair, have her always smoothing her skirt, have another character puffing on a cigarette, and another one smiling and dimpling, etc.

Good luck!......Carney

P.S. - thanks for an EXCELLENT and descriptive thread title! I get so tired of threads called "A Question" or "Need some help!" Dumbasses.

This is just a suggestion of spelling on names you've already chosen. :)

Candi and Randi, Mandi, or even Andi for Miranda.

Jezebel makes one think of a vixen or woman with loose morals. Laci or Lacey makes me think of someone that is sexy and sultry. Kat, instead of Kitty, makes me think of a bold and confidant woman.

Second, not first-and-third, who is a saint and just as hard to live with but in a different way.

... "Caitlin" or other trendy variants ...
Caitlin is not a "trendy variant", it is a regional spelling from the Welsh/Irish/Cornish branch of the Celts.

In many ways the attribute has more impact than the name. ...

Oh my bad, though I could have sworn you said you were on number 4. I guess this means your going to have to lose your major slut title and just be a slut. :p

I suppose if your going to post your story here an Emap as the major slut would work, I am pretty sure everyone knows I am. ;)

I will have to try the habit thing, one of the tricks I use alot is hair color and type for certain characthers. Pigtails usually bring to mind sweet and innocent. Hair pulled back in a bun usually more muture characther. Ponytails usually athelethic. Pixie cuts I usually give to my more mischvious or tomboy ones. Blondes I usually write as sweet or airheads (sorry) brunettes are girl next door, red heads as more fiery, and dark head girls are more seductive.

Hey them there are fighting words. Us redheads can so be seductive, if we really put our mind to it we can out seduce 20 blondes and brunettes. Granted threats may end up in the seducing but they still screwed her. ;)

At the risk of getting flamed here, I have to suggest George Costanza's alter ego, BUCK NAKED..... porn star.

LOL, sorry........ I couldn't resist.

Well dangit now you lost me, I could have sworn you said you had married your first wife again, not some new gal.

Actually, the "Buck Naked" gag was used years before Seinfeld on "Hill Street Blues."

Second Wife (1991) Katty
Third Wife (1992) Shelly
First Divorce (1993) Maggie
Forth Wife (1994) Maggie (again)
Fifth Wife (1995) Brittney (only lasted 1 night - a Vegas thing)
Sixth Wife (1995) Monique (same day as Brittney but different chapel)
Second Divorce (1996) - Maggie, Katty, Shelly, Brittney, Monique, + Maggie's Twin Sister (common law)
Seventh Wife (1997) Maggie (again)
Eighth Wife (1997) Katty (again)
Ninth Wife (1997) Shelly (again)
Tenth Wife (1997) Maggie's 18 year old daughter from previous marriage of hers to me.

After that I lost track

I think you need to find a new hobby, Like shot glass collecting or something.
