I was away the past couple of days, assisting at my best friend's first labor. It was fucking amazing to witness that without actually being the one giving birth for once.

I talked to cymbidia a few times during her travel as we were going to be in the same town and try to hook up for coffee, but she has caught some bad weather along the way and won't be at her destination until tomorrow.

She said to tell you all that she will be without phone service, and therefore internet service, until Tuesday and that she's hyperventilating with withdrawals. :)

wow..

yes that's amazing isn't it? good on you:)
i was at my sis-in-laws birth if my neice and nephew a few months back, the twins where 2 months early and she was dilated for too long..so we camped at the hospital en masse,
..all the women of our "clan" where there and agreed that even with all the goo and screaming..it's magical:)

Poor Cymbidia:( guess she can't really do THIS at work....i really admire her writing style, so efficent, crisp and correct.

Birth is amazing and magical! My friend is a single mom by choice, so there was no "father around." She chose 3 of her girlfriends to assist her and she had a female midwife and doula. The experience (plus the book I'm reading - The Red Tent) really got me thinking that labor and birth really are best experienced with women.

hmm..i'll have to read that:)

yeah..my sis in law had a female midwife
..a wonderfull bossy compassionate woman..her specialist(there where complications)..was sposed to be there..but he wasn't and wasn't needed anyway..the nurses and the midwife where brilliant:)
her dad and my bro/her hubby where there..but sis-l and the midwife threw them out..LOL..they weren't reacting to well to the situation:)..it Was a very Femminne bonding, shared moment:)

Funny how INTENSE we all are about looking after sis-l and the twins now.. forget being scared of our men, go anywhere near our convalescing little mother, or the twins and the claws come out!!LOL
