Ever have that question cross your mind?

I know that I love my children.

I know that I love my parents, grandparents, siblings, etc.

How do you know when you love another person?

Isn't liking someone enough? Does one ever truly know if it is love or just deep like?

Yes, Lance, this is a personal type question based upon my rambling thoughts lately...not having to do with my marriage failed or otherwise...

When I love, I know it...it is when, even if teh rest of the relationship goes to shit, I still wish the person the best.

Deep like can become love, I think, over time.

My sweet mother answered that same question when I was about 11 ...
...."How do I know if I love someone enough to marry them? (I had a massive crush an a boy at school :))

She said.."Imagine cleaning up after they've thrown up all over. Think of the nastiest situation and - if you still feel that's ok.....it's love."

I never got to test it.:D

I don't know. I don't think I've ever truly loved someone other than my family & close friends.

The question has crossed my mind, kinda like plucking daisy petals, the old....."she loves me! She loves me not!":D

My feelings also. I wonder if that can change, or if it's just the way I am. Hmmm.

Children = Parental love

Siblings = Fraternal love

SO = All consuming passion, lust and love!

You need to define, you can also have friends that you love dearly!:D

How do you know that the "all consuming passion and lust" isn't being passed off as love?

Time.

It takes up to three years for the lust hormones to wear off.

After that, if you still can't imagine not waking up next to he/she/it.... it's probably love.

I know trust has something to do with it. And though gullible I don't trust people

It's frequently confused with love, it's a matter of perspective, you can have passion and lust without feeling love. You may actually lust for someone that you couldn't love if they were the last person on earth. The two feelings, love/lust, are markedly different.

This is an unsettling concept of "love". What happens if one gets married and/or has kids with this person of lust only to find out a year later - in year three - that they hate the sight of that person?

That's called, D-I-V-O-R-C-E. (Not to mention years of child support!):D
