the student health center took it all. i hope they put it to good use, 'cause i feel like shit and would hate to think it was all for nothing :(

it too for-fucking-ever too. and the nurse said "oops." apperantly i have slippery veins or something. i think nurses should strike the word oops from their vocabulary. it's really not a comforting thing to hear.

i hate having blood drawn. it doesn't hurt that much. i'm not grossed out by it. i'm not even scared of needles. i just absolutely hate it.

i was an exemplary patient though. and i didn't even get a lolly pop :(

yes, this was a pointless "pity me" post. if you don't like it you can...uh....complain about it. yeah.

I did transfusion last year. I must have given a dozen samples over three months, then I sat in a chair for three and a half hours three days straight with needles in my arms giving stem cells.

It's draining, I feel for you.

I gave blood once, in high school, in the gymnasium, in June. With no air conditioning. It was 103 degrees in there, and I'm minus a pint of blood. People were dropping like flies, it was terrible.

(That's not why I stopped giving blood, I'm not allowed. I had Lyme's Disease on year later, and since there is always a chance for relapse, I can't donate anymore)

i quit that when i saw how it was affecting sparky. i'm trying to get some money so i can afford to fly back to california at the end of the semester, just in case i don't get my refund check in time.

Do they actually pay you for blood?..........

that was a joke april. no, the blood was taken for some medical tests. i think the doctor doesn't know what's wrong with me so he decided to take all my blood away and see if that fixed the problem :(

Putting on my best doctor voice: After removing all of her blood, her problem became quite clear - she's VERY dehydrated. Get this woman 28 pints of O negative STAT, and an IV of sugar-water.

:D

You think at a nice Ivy League school they would give you some gourmet cookies and Freshly squeezed orange juice.

Here in the big ten we just get juice boxes.

I guess the Ivy Leauge isn't as nice as I thought it is, they should at least give you something, that is the only way you will recover.

You will feel better when you eat something.

I hate giving blood. Several years ago I gave, and fainted dead away (I was over-heated from wearing a sweater, and hadn't eaten, and after losing a pint fell unconsious to the floor). I hated the feeling -- like turning off an old TV screen that telescoped down to a tiny little dot of light, and then went out. It felt like death.

Still, I give. I'm one of them there universal donors, so they're always after me.

Now I eat first.

Lexie,

I hope you feel better, soon.

Get some rest and eat some food.

I try to give every three months, they tell me I have big veins so its easy for them. I have never passed out, yet, but I had one humungous bruise once .

then where did this big bruise on the inside of my arm come from?

You're Black. How many times do I have to explain this pigment thing to you?

Still coming to the reunion?

Stigmata?

At the blood drives in my area, they give you a coupon for a free pint of Baskin Robbins ice cream for every pint of blood you give.

i look like a heroin addict right now. i'm going to have to wear long sleeves until this fades.

blech :(
