I found this after an e-mail.

The budget proposed by Caesar Obammus in 2012 will result in a deficit of $26 trillion dollars by 2022. That’s ten years from now. And at the risk of wearing out my zero key, that’s $26,000,000,000,000.00.

Here’s a handle on that number. If you were to spend $1,000 per minute 24-hours per day, it would take you about 18.5 days to spend $26 million dollars.

How long would it take you to spend $26 Trillion dollars? Try 49,000 years. That’s the debt your children and grandchildren are going to have to pay.

That's in addition to the 17 trillion of debt already existing. Of course, if The Big O were to be criticized for this massive debt, he would say something like: "It's all the fault of the previous administration" because he would refuse to accept any blame. The OP was dead on about that one.

So, I see that neither one of you is bothering to come up with the answers to these questsion (what a surprise! :D):

Zeb's post doesn't really say who added what to the total debt (even though the debt adding is done by Congress, not the president). How much debt was added in the Bush two terms and how much in Obama's one term--or more correctly, how much under Republican-controlled congresses and how much under Democratic-controlled congresses during these administrations, respectively?

I don't know, but these are the actual questions that Zeb doesn't seem to realize need to be asked on this topic for there to be any relevant comparisons.

The info is readily available to anyody who wants to look it up. Google is our friend. :)

More like the enemy. Look up any of them and you will find rants for and against. It all boils down into what sources you find, do you trust them, and which one you choose in the end.

I guess I was being too subtle. :D I was suggesting that you and Zeb needed to look up and see those answers for yourself--so you'd see for yourself what a load of manure you'd previously been sold (and now are trying to sell others).

As I said, the info is readily available, although not all sources are trustworthy. Here are details from CBS News:

Currently, and for the last 16 months, the Reps control the House and the Dems control the Senate. For the four previous years, under Bush and under Obama, the Dems conttrolled both houses of Congress.

The info is easily available, and I will try to find some more references.

What I realize is that if Der Ruler was a Rep. then you Dem's wouldn't care how or when the debt was incurred, just that it was on a Rep. watch, so why should I care? Why should I do anything but laugh at you?

And with the public sector job killer president in office for another four years, the debt to GDP ratio will climb and climb, even if more and more people work for the government, as he wants.

The original list

Before anyone goes any further with this, can I ask everyone to go back over the original "scare" list and check to see if it contains any logical fallacies? You can check them off against this: "Thou Shall Not Commit Logical Fallacies."

If all or most of the letter is just logical fallacies, no evidence of anything it's arguing, then all it's asking you to do is believe a bunch of lies and innuendo (for example, I see the assertion that no one knows how Obama paid for his education--but where is the evidence of that? Why take that assertion as true given that every biography on Obama will tell you how he did that; even Obama has said--student loans that he and his wife carefully paid off and only freed themselves from eight years ago. Or that assertion that he hung with radical extremists who hate America. Who exactly? What evidence that they "hate" America? etc).

If this entire list is nothing but logical fallacies--assertions with no evidence to back them up, rumors, gossip, and lies--then all it tells us is that writer of this list, any person who re-posts the list, and those who believe such e-mails without questioning them are incapable of critical thinking and easily bamboozled.

Yep, that's sort of it in a nutshell. Good post.

You are right about the payments for education. However, in the case of the radicals who hate America, the close connection with Weather Underground, including Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, to name the most prominent members, is common knowledge. So is Rev. Wright, who has been videotaped cursing America from the pulpit. So is his penchant for blaming the previous administration for any of the failures of his own administration. Even after almost three and a half years. Just when does The Big O start taking responsibilities?

Other parts are also common knowledge. Obama did spend his formative years outside the US; he has never been a member of the military forces and he has never met a payroll or run a company or anything else.

Of course, some of it is just opinion.
