I finally got to donate blood today! Had to wait almost 2 hours! (Got there at 2:30 started the bag at about 4:20, and left around 5:05!!) But it was worth it. And I got to watch this big guy pass out twice (I know, it shouldn't be funny, but he was really macho looking!) and I got to chat with a cute, young doctor :D

I got sick though, I've never gotten sick after donating. It didn't hit me until about an hour later though. Got really dizzy!

Anyone else have donation stories?

Good for you. As for the weekness after a while it happens to lots of people. I would get so week after giving blood that I am not allowed to give anymore. I had to have people monitor me once so I would not pass out.

I know it happens, but it was wierd. It's never happened to me before and I've given at least 4 times, that I remember.
I've never passed out, but I came really close today.

I donated a $1.

And, I got a redf, white, and blue ribbon. But, tommorrow, when i go to work, I'm going to donate $100. That's not even half my paycheck, so I'll still have quite enough to survive on my own. It's WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I donated however much blood they took and $5 (I'm in college, $5 is alot for me!)

I got a bumper stick that said "Proud Blood Donor: American Red Cross"

I've donated blood myself quite a few times by not, totally some 25+ times. And yes the dizzyness are quite normal. That's one of the reasons that they here in Denmark make sure you get some liquid after you've donated.

I can't donate because of health reasons. Truth be told, raspberry Kool-Aid would do more good than the crap flowing in my veins. I would if I could, though!

My fiance has an appointment coming up to donate, and he'll donate again as soon as they let him, because after all, he says, "I'm bleeding for two."

He's so sweet. :)

I donated the day of the attack. Here in Utah all of the major donation sites had 3+ hour waiting times that day. It was really suprising when I got there. I donate regulary and usually you see the same types giving, but on this day you could have done a spectrum analysis of society.

You can still donate $. I can't donate blood because I'm TOO skiny. But, I'll GLADLY donate as much $ as I can handle.

I've donated money, but the blood donation centers still have way too many people for me to get in. Also I think I may have spend too much time in Europe and may be rejected under the new regulations -- does anybody know what those are exactly? I heard they were going to reject people who had spent a total of three months in England or six months in Europe since 1980. They came out with that in the spring, and then sometime after that I heard they were going to make it even more restrictive.

We're also donating money. Finances are tight right now, but we still have some to spare. Every little bit helps. :)

I saw a few first time donors there. I hope that those people will see that giving blood is not that bad and will start to do it regularly. Maybe there won't be as much of a blood shortage that there has been lately.
