I didn't hear many protests when Sharon...

decided to bomb Palestine during the day and when the streets were full of schoolkids going home from school...

At least Bush had the guts to speak out about it for once.

Personally.. I'm on the side of Israel in the whole Israeli-Palestinian conflict.. Which is odd, because normally I don't take sides in foreign wars like that..

However.. Sharon is a bigot. He's right, but he's a bigot. You should not have hateful men in power, they will only do evil things with that power.

PP will you agree that the majority of users here are from the United States?

If so then you should understand why no one is concerned about the doings in the Middle East. Hell we don't care what is happening in our own country unless it is right next door.

We don't watch international news. We heard something about some kinda thing going on in Afghanistan. But unless we have a family member there we don't really care.

Now before everyone jumps on me, I know the people on Literotica are above average. As a group we are highly intelligent. More so than the average person on the street. I really do mean this, I am not just throwing around bull shit. Still we are Americans.

This is one of the reasons it is so frustrating to be a history teacher in the United States.

So don't be surprised PP when no one has anything to say about things going on in other parts of the world. It isn't part of our everyday conversation to discuss such things.

Does any of this make sense or am I taking too much medication again? ;) I do feel kinda light headed.

You make sense to me.

You are right. Unless we are "personally" affected,it doesnt really matter much.

That pisses me off royally.

Just today I realized everyone had already taken down their flags and patriotic items.

Why? Is it like Christmas when there is a time limit to how long it stays up?

But I am stopping now,as this has nothing to do with the thread.

Sharon is a bigot, that I agree with. But I dont agree with the Israel on this matter. Makes me stand out in my area, but its the truth.

I however, acknowledge that unless the behavior of both parties changes, there will never be peace.

Its tit for tat and will go on until there isnt anything left standing.

Why do Europeans still hate the Jews? The whole Socialist continent can piss off.

Interesting statement.

Do you have any more pearls of wisdom?.

That's why I post here.

We're quite a strange bunch when you think about. An assembly of sex crazy, perverted souls who have strong and passionate opinions on everything under the sun.

Don't knock your fellow Americans too much, I've met much worse on European boards...

Jeez! What am I saying...

out of the loop, pp

I also agree with you and schoolteacher. I'm pretty disgusted about how apathetic Americans can be.

I must confess that lately, I haven't kept up with the news so that's why you didn't hear me bitching. Of course, as one who has publicly criticized our actions and our politics, I'm not too popular among the many who believe America is always right.

p_p, I was damn near lynched on another site for expressing my political views. I'm no wimp but I'm not waving my ass in the wind to be whipped by folks with whom I have no real emotional investment with and little respect for. It's not worth the grief.

Folks may be more enlighten here, but I'll reserve my political discussions to be held in small circles where I feel reasonably certain that we can disagree without hurling personal assaults and screaming at the top of our virtual lungs. Been there, done that. No more.

So for those who have wondered why I have been obviously absent in political threads, now you know. You all
know how opinionated I am, maybe you didn't know I'm wise enough to choose peace over being right. :)

Peace,

daughter

:D

I usually am...

I find that political threads on Lit can usually be split into three contributing factions. The young and unworldly (streetwise to you and me) who become hysterical at the slightest criticism; the slightly older and more in tune with what's happening around them who can defend their corner with well-informed and researched intelligence and the ancients (like me) who've seen it all before, and are just realising that what our elders used to say about there being nothing new under the sun, is absolutely true. We have the advantage of historical experience to draw on.

So I usually tell them "Bring on your ropes and hang me from the highest tree. My body may be yours but my mind is free!"

:D
