Depends on the location... In my childhood every household had one of these at least up to mid 90s. I think we might still have one somewhere, though don't use it as it is much easier to buy ground beef rather than make it.A dry and wet grinder ,used it a lot in the early 60s.
A brass body was considered superior but this cast iron one worked better.
We still have them for our personal US bank account and use checks every once in a while. A few months ago I had to buy checks for a business account because this was the only way to pay deposit on a business rental place - they wouldn't accept a credit cardCheque books.
The last time I saw one in my country was in the 80's (they became costly in 1988, which pretty much wiped out those that were still left after the bank cards came along).
Here you can't pay with checks in normal life anymore - check books ceased to exist at all in the 90's. Those born in the 80's don't even remember them.We still have them for our personal US bank account and use checks every once in a while. Poised with your finger over the Record+play buttons on the boom box so you could get the whole song without the DJ talking over it.ISOIR the original ‘playlists’, making a ‘mixed tape’ on a cassette!
