I’m so old I remember…

But did she also have to push in a pedal and move a lever on the steering wheel column to put it into gear? And constantly switch between different gears depending on speed and conditions? Ah, those were the days. Lol
Ive got that beat. I drove my fathers 1950 Ford truck. It was 4 speed and you had to double clutch. You turned the key, then pushed a button. The key started the fuel pump, the button operated the starter. Sometimes the fuel pump woukdnt turn so id have to open the hood and hit the fuel pump to make it start pumping. I loved driving that ol truck!

Looks like my part of the world skipped those, we went from reels straight to more or less modern cassettes.
They were a lot more durable but sound quality was poorer and you couldn't record over them. There were 4 "tracks"...each in stereo (making 8 total) and you could repeat a single track. So for example...I had to buy Led Zeppelin 2 three times before I went vinyl...from which I could record my cassettes

Edit...you could also put it once and never hit rewind...it just kept going to the next track. After 4...it started over automatically. So Bob Seger Live Bullet could be jammed to all night.

I have and use one of those clear plastic phones in post 78.

I use checks often. Quite a few places around me do not accept cards, or charge extra fees for them.

There are currently many search engines better than the Goo Monster.

My mom told me she used to have to put a key in the steering wheel arm and turn it to make her car start. How primative.
I do that in both current vehicles.

You're old if you remember putting the key in the dash (before the steering column system) or stepping on a button on the floor to engage the starter.

These jokes don't work here. Manual still more common than automatic. I've only once driven a car with automatic gears.

Or cars having a manual choker.
