Hypnotic arcade cabinet

Had a loose idea about a hypnotic arcade cabinet that hypnotizes an introverted, nerdy girl to act really out of character. For example, as she gets into the game, odd images and colors flash on the screen, our girl zones out and when the game is over, she is a different woman for the night.

Might base it loosely on the 'Polybius' urban legend and at the end, the Cabinet is taken away by men in suits.

That’s a pretty good idea. Probably would be best to set it during the 80s when arcades were all over the place. You could do a modern day one but the fun of the poly boys legend is that no one remembers the exact arcade it was supposed to be at where it would be easy to track it down nowadays since arcades are pretty few and far between.

In any case, our lead is wandering a labyrinthian arcade after her favorite cabinet is out for repairs. She happens upon a game that looks like a Tempest Knock off and begins playing. The action is so quick and so many explosions are happening that she doesn’t notice additional flashed images or a powerful flash at the start and end, nor does she notice that the joystick is is metal and begins sending tiny shocks to her, stimulating nerves.

The machine recorded her heart rate and took her picture before and after. The CIA is looking to create a machine to use in foreign countries, to cause the people who play it to act more submissive The hope being to get the machines in places visited by dignitaries or foreign agents to get them to have looser lips.

Of course our lead instead is left in a horny, submissive stare, desperate for relief. The CIA agents could intervene but as they watch her seduce and be seduced they instead decide to just observe.

This is an awesome idea! Would love to help out with something like this!!

Just had an idea.

She could become 'playable' after playing the game too long.

Ass = A Button
Breasts = B Button
Hair Pulling or Leading by her Hand = Movement

A period piece could feature sleazy pinball machines exploited in MK-Ultra-type mind-control programs ca. 1950s-60s, testing hypnotic audio-visual patterns that render players queer, nympho, Commie, submissive, artistic, beast-like, holy, sociopathic, nudist, psychic, and/or paranoid. What could go wrong?

Got an idea for it now...

Our main character invites some friends to a Bar after work, including a nerdy introverted woman. Our guy tells her the Bar has some rare Arcade Cabinets to get her interested in going. When they get there, its established our girl is very shy/introverted and can't loosen up at all. She darts to the Arcade games as soon as she can. Our girl eventually finds herself interested in an odd game. Before she knows it, she is completely mesmerized by it. When the game is over, she seems to be a different person. She loses her inhibitions and acts expresses as if she is spaced-out. Our guy catches her blowing guys, taking it in the ass, doing corny dances in public and eventually she hooks up with our main character. Tomorrow morning, she remembers nothing from last night and when the guy goes back to the bar to see what game she may have been playing she finds MIBs hauling it away.

Or how about a game that's so absorbing people can do whatever they like to you while you are playing - so long as they don't get in the way of the game.

This brings the movie "The Stepford Wives", where men had their wives all on some medication that made them all subs, until one broke the rest free of it, and there was hell to pay...

Another spin

How about a secret governmental research project that has evolved over the years ...

Started with pinball machines, where they programmed the lights, bells and whistles to have a unique effect on certain individuals, putting them into a trance-like state, where they became easily susceptible to implanted commands, etc.

Perverted scientists continue the research over the years and develop a similar program with the early innovation of Pong. The pong ball repeats a certain pattern over and over again, causing the user to go into a hypnotic trance (similar to watching the gold watch swing back and forth). The player is programmed within the game by messages that pop up when they progress to the next level.

Then we can move to the arcade booths, where the player is more easily controlled within the confines of the booth, locked in / strapped in / for the duration of the game. Here they are more easily programmed and controlled, due to the lack of outside interference.

Next we have the revolution of home video gaming systems, where the increased visual stimulation easily allows for the combination of subliminal images flashed on the screen, combined with hypnotizing patterns, combined with colorful bursts of lights, and audio input.

Onto the modern era of gaming with VR technology, the possibilities have become almost limitless for our governmental mind control scientists that have been behind the entire technological gaming revolution all along!

Conspiracy theory #69 !!!

If the writer goes this route, there might be story possibilities in having the arcade located in a typical 80's mall (maybe after getting hypnotized, the nerdy girl goes out and buys trashy & skimpy 80's era mall clothing and wears them out, telling the salespeople to throw away her old clothes).

Arcade boxes were also common in pizza parlors and chain bar-restaurants back in the day.

I rather enjoy this plot idea here, especially since it is set in the 80s. There are no more arcades, unless you count Dave and Busters.

It doesn't have to be CIA though. It could simply be an evil corporation that wants more docile consumers.

You must not mean the remake.
