We've been away on holiday as a couple this week, during which we visited my older brother and his wife. They've been married 52 years. For their 50th wedding celebration they just had their children and grandchildren because inviting ALL the relations would be a very large gathering.

For my parents' 50th anniversary they did invite ALL the relations - 400 of them, and had a separate party for the hundreds of friends.

My wife and I discussed what we would do for our 50th. What we would possibly like to do is have a dirty weekend away together, but we will probably have to have a party for the immediate family - and the dirty weekend later.

We're actually going away today. Long weekend.

I gassed up yesterday, and made sandwiches for the drive. I cleaned the house last night and picked up all the leaves etc so that we don't have to worry about coming home to a mess. I'm really looking forward to getting out of Sydney. We don't get to spend that much time together during the week, so weekends are kinda special.
