I have ferreted around in the options here but it doesn't seem practical to be registered to a thread but not get email notifications. The answer appears to be putting in a false email address but that is counterproductive.

I want subscribed threads to appear in my control panel, not my Inbox.

Yes, someone please answer this question for us please.

I hate having my email box full of threat postings, I only want my control panel updated when a new post is made to a thread.

But if I switch off my email notifications my control panel does not seem to get updated. Is there a way around this..... :D

Hi all! Try this and see if it helps: Go to your control panel. There, you should see three boxes on top of each other: "New Private Messages", "Subscribed Forums", and at the bottom "Subscribed Threads". Beneath the latter will be a list of all the threads to which you are currently subscribed, along with the option to unsubscribe to each. Once you've unsubscribed to those, then go to your "Edit Profile" tab and turn "Email Notification By Default" off. That should stop you from receiving those notices. Let me know if it doesn't. :)

Tried what you suggested but now I get no emails and no threads posted in showing in my control panel at all....

We still want new postings to show up in our control panel, just not our email. :)

help :)

Ok, so now I've got no emails and no control panel updates. So I tried pushing on the 'subscribe to thread" button at the bottom of a new thread I have posted in.

Yes, it now shows up in my control panel.... BUT I'm getting emails even though I have 'no email notification' clicked in my preferance page.........

There is, apparently, either a bug or conceptual design flaw in the software for subscribing to threads. If you subscribe to a thread, youget e-mails instead of an alert like you can configure PMs to provide. Laurel and Manu need to get with the software provider and request a change in the way the subscribed thread function works.

The only thing I can think of is to put threads you want to subscribe to in your favorites list and check them manually.

PS: If you have any post in a thread that was tagged for e-mail notification before you turned off the e-mail notification by default, you have to track each and every one down and edit it to remove the e-mail notification check.

Been there! Done that! Doesn't work. It seems to be all or nothing.
