and I know about popping pills to control them, but I want to try something that isnt so called "drugs".

I have only seasonal allergies,my poor daughter has them so severe she is on meds 24/7,the poor thing.

But as for me,I am on alot of different meds right now. The thought of taking yet another one isnt too inviting to me.

I want to know how to relieve allergies without taking more medication.

Do any of you know what I can use?

My eyes are really messed up this morning,so I am using eye drops, but I'd love to have a longer lasting relief.

Thanks.

:nana: <--I'm loving the nana.

Allergies

You don't say what it is your alergic to?

I have known many people with allergie problems find salvation in a careful analisis of their diet.

Start to keep a food diary as this seems to be the sorce of a lot of mysery for people.

there are ways of getting tested for alergies on the alternative scene and some people find homeopathic medicine can bring them back into balance where medication will not.

What you should consife is a pharmacaticul company does not want to cure you, they want to manage you r symptoms so you remain lifelong customers <Angry>

You could also try acupuncture.

Happy to make further suggestions when time allows

Thank you.

And I have outdoor allergies.

Not bad enough to kill me,but bad enough to keep me miserable.

Just a sugestion. Check with your local Health food/supply stores..... They may have some remadies??

Bee Pollen

I also suffer from seasonal outdoor allergies, pollen and mold mostly. I have had a lot of success with bee pollen. I swear by it. It takes a long time to be really effective but it makes a huge difference when it finally kicks in. I ingest about a 1/4 of a tsp of it every morning. I have the kind that looks like grains. It comes in a bottle from the health food store. Try and get some that is as local as possible. The way I imagine that it works is that you build up an immunity to the pollens by ingesting them over a long period of time. The stuff in the air isn't really getting into your system in the same way that eating it does. The allergens irritate your eyes and your mucus membranes and make you weeze and itch and sneeze, taking the bee pollen virtually eliminates theses symptoms and you don't feel dehydrated tired or super sensitive to sound. I don't know if you have to be careful if you are allergic to bee stings. I would consult a doctor on that one. You have to take the pollen everyday, all year. It isn't that much of a hassle and I haven't taken a benydril or sudafed or claritin or... in 3 years and I live in the allergy capital of the world!

Good luck,

Have you allergy proofed your house? Removing the allergens and keeping them out of your house is key.

electrostatic filter on A/C, Furnace.

HEPA filters in the major rooms of your house.

Don't open the house windows, especially in the bedrooms.

Remove all wall-to-wall carpetting. Get hardwood floors.

Special covers for all mattresses and pillows.

No stuffed animals.

No animals. Bye bye pets.

I swear by this!

Find a local farmers market... buy some honey that originates within 50 miles of where you live. Add a tablespoon of it to your diet each day. Soon you'll build up antibodies to the allergens in your area. It works... not sure how long it takes, but it really really works.

LTR................

Huskie has hit upon what I was going to suggest. [btw, Huskie, nice AV. :)] I use Cat's Claw when my allergies act up. Living in S. Fla., there is lots of pollen in the air most of the time. You can ask them about any side effects that might happen with what you're currently taking, but I don't believe there are any.
I must say.........#1 tank has a great idea! :D Will have to try that one if my allergies act up when I'm with MY-Sir.

I think your nana is pretty cool too.

Best wishes for some relief.

-kym- impatiently waiting to try # 1 Tank's remedy for allergy problems:p

lovetoread,

you should also try some goldenseal and yellow dock...they can be gotten at your local health food store...i know that a friend of mine had allergies so bad that they were talking the shots for her.

someone suggested these two things to her and it has been over a year since she started taking them with no more trips to the emergency room in that time...

I have horrible problems with my eyes during allergy season. Try getting a cool wet wash cloth and laying it over your eyes for a while. Then use eye drops. It is way simple but it works for me.
