How to not get sucked into drama

Do you know anything about cake baking? Why do my cakes always crack on the top?!

Another thing besides the oven temp is my grandmother told me about running a toothpick or a very thin knife through the middle of the batter about a cm deep across the top. You'll have a small dent in the top of the cake but no crack. Also you can put your pans in a water bath while baking.

The steam in the batter has to go somewhere. Or try baking at a lower temp to retain more of the moisture.
