Today I went to visit a friend to take him some collectables that he likes.

He runs a hotel. One of his guests was just leaving but stopped for a chat while I was having a cup of coffee with my friend.

The departing guest was Andrew Ridgeley of WHAM!

At least one of my daughters won't speak to me because I didn't ask for an autograph.

There are celebs who come through at work occasionally, and it's all I can do to play it cool and not ask for an autograph. My inner fangirl is squealing, "Get an autograph, get an autograph!"

Very close to the truth, Sensual. I recognised him as a pop star but I couldn't have put a name to him at the time. He and my friend addressed each other by their Christian names.

The hotel is often used by famous people so seeing Andrew wasn't a surprise. The guests come because the hotel is so laid-back. No one bothers the stars for autographs or screams when they appear. All the guests are treated equally well whether they are 'important' or non-entities.

Sometimes during the week the hotel is off-bounds to the general public for an event which could be a pop-star's party or the girl-next-door's wedding.
