how to inhale cigarettes

People who are addicted to smoking in MY OPINION are just weak minded. And fail to understand you do not need a cig.

hopefully someone will be able to help me in this, even if it's not sex related. i've been smoking cigarettes for a little while now, and i don't think i'm inhaling them right. i'm not addicted yet or anything, and today, i tried to open my throat today whilst inhaling, and the smoke went into and down my throat, and it hurt so badly i couldn't breathe. is that the way you're supposed to inhale (?), because before i would just suck in and blow out smoke, no pain. i feel like a dunce asking this to anyone in person, so i figured i could turn to you guys, because i have gotten a lot of good advice from you helpful people. and please, please, don't tell me not to smoke, i know that's really what i should be doing, but just let me have this guilty pleasure.

Is this shit for real? How old is this kid?

If you "don't" know how to inhale cigarette smoke, don't learn! It's that simple.

As an ex-smoker (been clean for nine months) i know exactly what you mean. Unfortunately convincing yourself of that is only one part of the process, but if someone really wants to quit then they can do it.

Smoking is bad. I smoked for about 3 weeks. I even got addicted (by the way how do you know you're not addicted?) and it was hard to quit after smoking one per 2 days for 3 weeks. The reason I CANT smoke is that I get spasms in my lungs which makes me short of breath and I can't breathe. If these spasms start I need to rest for 2 days without inhaling any smoke then it becomes better. Smoking causes cancer, hearth disease, impotence, bad smell, bad skin,

Unregistered only needs to go a day without smoking to see how addicted he/she really is...

Just wanted to toss out a hearty congrats to fiery jack here. I'm sure your laundry bill & your non-smoking friends appreciate your efforts.

Thanks Lust Engine. :)

I think they've forgiven me for when i was as cranky as hell with them after quitting... :D

The odd thing is eventually you might even get sick & tired of smelling that smoke too.

I'm also sure that if they were true friends, they'd definitely supported you through your cranky & crotchedty period of trying to give up the smokes. Continued luck fiery jack!

I already do, just like i did when i was a kid. If i'm around smoke on an empty stomach, it just makes me feel nauseous.

Which really is weird, if you think that not so long ago i was voluntarily shoving it in my lungs...

DAMN!!!

More moralizing and preaching on this thread than the one about having sex with animals. Do I gather that the collective morality of Lit is that smoking cigarettes is worse than porking a poodle? Sheesh!!!

No preaching here. I could care less about what a person does in the comfort of their own home. Hell stick gerbils up your butt for all I care.
For myself, I got tired of coughing up pieces of lung every morning. Hence I quit.

What bugs me is not the preachy people but the militant ones. The folks who say no smoking within the city limits for any reason.

You can smoke a cigarette or shag a spaniel to your hearts content, but it doesn't mean either is a good idea. :)

No preaching here. It just happens to be my opinion about smoking as is with many of the other posters here.

Just because one doesn't like something and has an opinion on it doesn't exactly justify preaching. You're more than welcome to express your opinion on the subject too. I've always considered preaching to be actively trying to sway someone's opinion. While we might agree or wholeheartedly disagree with someone's opinion, give us the credit to choose a stance.

I said "preaching and moralizing." In my opinion, smoking is a risky behavior. Risks are pretty well known. Lot of other behaviors that are risky are discussed on Lit without the preaching and moralizing. What's the difference? Mainly that smokers are the outcasts and pariahs of the noughts.

In my opinion smoking is a risky behavior, just like unprotected sex, sex with strangers, intravenous drug use, etc. Adults who know the risks of their choices are entitled to and responsible for their choice of vices.

I get pissed about people who victimize themselves. The kids who want to sue the fast food chains because they got fat-or smokers who try to sue tobacco companies after being warned of the risks.

I blame all the "preaching and moralizing" for making me lose focus and send me off on this tangent. :D

Remind me, how do you inhale cigarettes again? :p

I'll let the risk takers do it all for me now.

Sounds like a good plan, i wonder if unregistered is taking notes.

I started smoking at 14. I quit at 23, 2 years ago. To be honest, I have no idea why I quit. I didnt intend to. I was sick, headache, stomach cramps, etc, so bad that I couldnt smoke nor eat, and I tried to smoke anyway, which made it all worse, and it prolonged the sick period, but I was so sick that I'd puke if I tried to have more than half a cig, although I definitelly needed more.

Anyway, way it went, I wound up knocing myself out by overdoing it, trying to pretend I'm not sick and keep on living, to a 3 days in bed, during which I couldnt even drink any liquids. When I finally woke up, after few days of sleep, I tried to have a cigarette, and puked. Basically, every time I tried to restart smoking, I got sick and had to cancel attempts or puke.

Now, I'm worse off than when I was a smoker. I can smell smoke on peoples clothing and its repulsive, I can smell it on my own clothing after a night in a club. When I was smoking, I never noticed, nor cared. I guess its better in the long run, but its pain in the ass.

Hehe, I forgot this

First, if you dont know how to inhale, dont inhale, its as simple as that, better yet, dont smoke. If you really care, when your lungs hurted, you did it right. It takes a while for non-smoker lungs to get used to smoke, so it will hurt first few times. Some people dont experience that, or dont remember it, I did and I do.

Last night, at a club, I noticed the cigarettes are $9.50 CAN in the machine. Probably cheaper in the store, but it kinda makes ya think how much money you save by not smoking. When I smoked I went through 4-5 cartons a month. Besides, if you do get to old age (not that good of a possibility depending on your lifestyle, but ...) and you didnt smoke, you MIGHT not die from lung cancer, etc. Of course, I doubt that you will care much whether you die from general system failure of some sort that happens to be painfull or lung cancer which is also painfull.

I guess my advice is dont smoke, but to be honest I dont really care either way. Ask a cute person of opposite sex (or same sex if thats what you like) to teach you to inhale as a pickup line. Allright, nevermind me, I've been up all night, I guess I'm bit over the top now. Good luck whatever you choose.
