Hyperbole and lies about immigrants eating pets along with the constant media attention on the city and other things (bomb threats for instance) is not helping.

Resources being directed by state government are directly helping with issues such as medical resources and additional interpreters

Watched a few minutes of the Tonight Show. Says the story started when a woman wrote an email to JD Vance to complain that her cat was missing and she thought the Haitians took it.

JD turned it into violent threats against Haitians as pet eaters.

Revealed tonight was the fact that the missing cat came home and was found in the woman's basement. No one told JD to disregard the complaint. No Haitians ate any pets. [BTW the picture of the guy carrying two geese turned out to be a Blank guy who picked up the geese after they were struck on the roadway–in another state–and he wasn't Haitian. So, Fake Republican post.]

Many on the right never cared that it was a lie.

To be fair, I think that there are some people who believe the attention received was their reasoning and likely those same people have already acknowledged that it was a lie ...but their voices are few.

What this has brought up is a huge part of the issue. If immigrants aren't seen as people, then any actions to address real issues won't be solved in any meaningful way.

Germans and Irish were seen the same back when they were the major influx of migrants. And we had similar issues within cities who took them in. But history isn't important in a transactional world.
