How Much of a Hypocrite Is This?

This is pretty stupid when you consider that he's the type of actor who is going to disappear when this show's run is over

He's the Bud Bundy of our time.

I love the whole "obviously it's part of God's plan for me to keep taking the money" bit.

Sounds like less of a hypocrite than a very confused young man. It's a bit harder to take such a guy to task for such remarks because child actors can have such crazy and unnatural childhoods--as clearly he did with drugs, drink, a weird work schedule, family issues, etc. When a kid is on a top show for that long--developing through impressionable years in that sort of bubble, it usually means he doesn't have a very strong handle on reality. Surrounded by sycophant buddies, con-men managers and agents, tabloid reporters, etc. he likely has no idea who his real friends/enemies are. And having that much power, fame, money handed to him that early and that easily, likely affected his perception of himself, who he is and what he can/can't do.

Which is all to say that this reads, to me, like yet another tragic tale of a child star who grew up too much in the limelight with no one really trying to look after him or his interests. So, he latches onto these religious folk who seem to be the only ones giving him a guiding path after all these years and that puts him in this even weirder position of maintaining the show that gave him his stardom--and makes him news in the first place--even as he condemns it.

Yeah, I saw that and it's just like, if you really cared, you'd leave now. Isn't it better to be sued for breach of contract than risk your eternal soul? The show's producers have already made it clear that they're fine getting rid of the star. Does anyone watch the show for Jake?
