But just look at the men...ignore us women for a minute....the majority of men are in the 1-5 range....which is just where 2 fits in!

Thanks for all your votes and posts. I am a little surprised that so many women have had more than 5 or more than 10 partners.

This validates the other study that I mentions where women will understate the number in public, however, in private, or when they will have no consequences for telling the truth, the numbers go up.

I expected men and women to have graphs that look like the men's poll, less people having more partners.
But, It should really be no surprise that women have more partners, because, as we all know, it is much easier for women to get laid than men! (please, no comments about that term)

If a woman is sexually active and desires more than one man, she can certainly find them. At least, I believe so.
Only the very hottest and sexiest men fall into that category of getting all the women they want, like certain actors or models.

For intercourse, six men I think (between the ages of 16 and 19), and one woman that I'd qualify as "sex" (at 23).

I'm glad to have the experience, and I've never regretted or been embarrassed by any of it.

I guess with this kind of thing, I see regret as a conscious choice. There was a time when I felt a flicker of regret, but at that point I decided it was just sex and I had learned something, so it wasn't worth feeling bad. So maybe you could see it as knowledge gained about sex and yourself as opposed to a series of bad choices?

Thanks for your post. I started relatively late, was in the Air Force 4 years, was shy, didn't get married until I was 42. Therefore, I am in the 30++ category. (Searching for love in all the wrong places)

Please take no offence, but I see you are young. That's why I put 0-5 and 5-10. I feel that many young people marry early and have only a few lovers. (I also think this is wonderful, by the way, and is the way it should be!) Some others marry, divorce, remarry and have a few more lovers. Some others can't find the right person, or are afraid of committment, or both.

So, I'm confused by your response. Do you mean that anyone having more that 5 lovers is just taking whatever they can get, or whomever they can find? I had to make the cutoff somewhere. 5 sounded right for the first bunch, where I guessed most people would be. Of course, I couldn't put age and other factors in the same poll. That would be too many options. The poll DOES seem to support the original study I saw where they proposed that women were more likely to lie about how many partners they had had, except when they were forced to tell the truth, or had nothing to loose by telling the truth, such as here in Lit! Of course, we are more in tune with sexual thoughts and acts here in Lit, so it doesn't surprise me that more women, and men, here are having more sexual partners than the average population.
Of course, most of us are probably in America. It would be very interesting to know what it was like elsewhere, such as in Germany, where you are.

Interesting how widely the responses vary!

Soon after my divorce, I was out on a first date with a woman. Right then and there, she asked me how many partners I had had. At the time, I was 38, and she was 30. I asked her how I should count. She said loudly and quickly, "penetration!". So I thought, and I said, "four, counting my ex-wife." She laughed loudly. That kinda hurt. But she hadn't been married, so what did she know? Some of us take our marriage vows seriously, even when the marriage isn't going well. Well, we didn't date for long, and we didn't even have sex.

So I had four years between my marriages, and I'm remarried now, and that number is up to eight. In other words, my second wife is my eighth partner. I'm 44 now.

If I counted non-intercourse, the number would only be slightly higher. It's not that I don't consider that sexual relations. I'm not as picky as Bill Clinton. It's just that it makes counting harder.
