I'm not trying to be overtly controvercial by asking this, but there was an interesting article in the Canberra Times on the weekend by a professor giving a report on habitual chatroom users.
Boring stuff, but a bit of the transcript .......
"studies found that over 75-85% of heavy users that identified themselves as female tended to exhibit traits that would be uncommon in western cultures. Characteristics including overuse of sexual expression, claims of bisexuality, and general linguistic profiling suggested that the clear majority were practicing gender role playing. This is particularly evident in female respondents purporting bisexual and lesbian lifestyles. Empirical evidence would argue that sub-cultures of this type would be unlikely to participate in forums that included those from heterosexual members. In fact, a surprising finding was the continued acceptance of female roleplayers, that other females were genuine."
