It varies. That's the short answer.Hi there,
How long does it take for a story to be typically approved? Thanks
Try sending a PM to Laurel, politely asking if it's fallen through the cracks. My stories been in a pending status for 10 days. Not sure what's going on or what to do.
There are some pretty stringent guidelines for what is allowed here in terms of cover art, so there are many possible reasons it might have gotten kicked back. Even stuff that eventually gets approved can take weeks in pending. It took 10 days for my Series to post but the artwork for it never made it. Tried again and still nothing. Anyone else have issues getting cover art to display on series?
My first story just got uploaded and only took 2 days. I'm honestly really surprised it was so soon - I was buckling in for waiting a week.Usually 2-6 days is normal. New authors may take longer the first couple stories.
All of mine (only 4 so far, with a 5th now in the queue for 4 days) have taken between 4 and 6 days to post.

Without seeing your proposed cover art it's hard to say what might be the issue, but some of the more common ones:
If none of those seem likely to apply to your situation, you can try providing more details about the art in question, and maybe someone can identify the issue.
- Graphic nudity is not allowed. Breasts or butts are sometimes allowed, more commonly if they're drawn/painted/etc.
- Photos of real people, even fully clothed, can be problematic for copyright reasons. The site is, I think, unwilling to devote the time and resources to verifying that the author owns the rights and often rejects them, erring on the side of caution.
- The site does not generally welcome AI-generated content.
It might be quicker to get your story published, then come back and add your cover art later. I have a feeling art gets handled in batches, which can have a couple of weeks in between them.Thank you Bamagan, I’m going to make a few changes and try again.
I hate to say it, but it can take a couple of weeks for your story to be approved. If you created the series manually, that sometimes takes even longer.I sent in a story on 9 February and am still waiting for it to be approved and for it to be included in a series. It's not really fun.
The story should get over the line first, with the manual series stuff added later. The story has to be published for the series feature to work. With the auto-series feature - there's no delay once the second chapter is published.I hate to say it, but it can take a couple of weeks for your story to be approved. You can create a manual series separately, then assign stories to it as you submit them. But the series can take quite long to approve. I have a story that was published over a week ago, in a series I created at the same time as I submitted the story, and it's still "pending moderation":The story should get over the line first, with the manual series stuff added later. That's what I'm saying. Using the manual series function has nothing to do with the wait time to get the chapter published, but it does impact the joining up. For a standard chaptered story, it's easier (and no delay) to rely on the auto-function.You can create a manual series separately, then assign stories to it as you submit them. You can create a series without any works at all. In fact, if you do it manually, that's how it works. Once you've created the series, you assign works to it - like the screen cap above shows, you can add just a single work if that's all you have. You can't use the series function, either way, until you have the second piece published. That's when you can add it to a Series. With only one item, there's nothing to link it to, so the series algorithm won't work.
But if you have to wait until the site gets around to it, it's a bit self-defeating. Yours is still in progress, but do you know if it will ever get done? You can create a series without any works at all. In fact, if you do it manually, that's how it works. Leave it alone.I have my third story waiting to be published. It was in for about a week and I added a tag and changed the category so I suspect it went back to the end of the queue.
But it’s been almost another week now and still pending. Should I yank and redo the whole thing like Sinclair Group did?
No. Don't touch it. Everytime you change something, your clock starts all over again. A week for a new writer is typical, usually longer. Patience!I have my third story waiting to be published. Yeah, I figured it reset the clock. Even though it wasn’t changes to the story text.No. Don't touch it. Everytime you change something, your clock starts all over again. A week for a new writer is typical, usually longer. Patience!
