How Global Warming Really Works

Simple question Turd. What is the correct tempurature for the globe? The most ideal tempurature. What is that number?

Whatever it was in the 18th Century, I should think. "Ideal" only in that that temperature would be more or less the same as the average for the past 10,000 years or so, and therefore something the global ecosystem is used to.

As much as 0 means on a Fahrenheit thermometer scale.
Wrong answer.

The article chooses not to explain the graph very much. The zero line is probably a global average over an extended time, which, oops, is not provided.

In which case, the graph shows consistently above-average temperatures for the past 207 months.

That zero could also mean the total amount of scientific evidence that global temperatures have dropped back to average.

Neither "probably" or "could" are referenceable.

The game is over. The jig is up. They tried to induce panic. They failed.

When it was warming, the reason was CO2 and climate was simple;
now that it’s not warming, the reason isn’t known and climate is complex.

I (and others like Ishmael) called it correctly in 2000 and we're still correct.

Climate is a chaotic system that will eventually terminally cool. All along the Socialists have been conflating weather patterns with climate for political purpose. If they could create an 'atmosphere' of fear, then they could gain a little more control over our lives, as they do with the lure of 'free' health care...

Now that they control health care, they're going after the smokers and the fat.

If you're not a smoker, or fat, don't worry, they'll take something away from you eventually in order to make you think and act correctly.

The lowest temp in history was just recorded in Antarctica -135.8

Caused by global warming of course.

You do understand that climate change, as opposed to "global warming", cites extremes and unexpected variances as atypical of climate change?

Just because your political lollipop doesn't include climate change as a flavour option doesn't mean it's not happening.

*chuckle*

Climate change can be found; we're just not looking hard enough. ;)

Now take this year's Hurricane season, for example. The dearth of hurricane is absolute proof that the planet is dying...

Let's start with something simple. Climate IS change. To state the obvious is no particular statement at all.

And now that warming is off the table temporarily the entire concept of Anthropogenic Global Warming has morphed into Anthropogenic Global Climate Change. The proponents don't know why, or care it seems, it just is and because it 'just is' we must obviously do something about it.

But the problem with 'doing something' about something which you have no knowledge is that you are just as likely to do something that will make it worse than anything that might make it better.

It is also a truism that making tons of money (ripped from the pockets of the taxpayer) to fix that something will, over time, be used by the political class to fund pet projects totally unrelated to the original purpose of the tax to begin with. Or as P J O'Rourke put it, "Giving a politician more money and power is like giving your teenage son the keys to the family car and a bottle of whiskey."

How eco-Socialism works...

You win an election then give your supporters taxpayer money for pipe dreams like wind (that mostly go belly up) in order to "save" the planet, the birds and the bees. Then, when birds are killed, the eco-Terrorists successfully sue the wind power they demanded. When the friends of the administration then begin screaming bloody murder, the President awards them a waiver.

Meanwhile, because farmers are not his friends, he turns the EPA loose on their stock ponds...

Nasty beef! People should eat Soylent TOFU!

Not wanting Acme Manufacturing to filly MY air with crap is eco-Socialism

Unbelievable.

Tell it to the Philippines, you utter idiot.

Even the most bent sources on the planet have FINALLY reported that there hasn't been any warming for the past seventeen (17) years.

Even the BBC ( for god's sake ) has reported that global temperatures have not risen:
"...This would mean that temperatures have not risen globally since 1998..."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7329799.stm

That's one helluva correlation you've got going there:

why am i reading this so very differently from you, trysail? you pick out one phrase there, but ignore what's either side of it:

The World Meteorological Organization's secretary-general, Michel Jarraud, told the BBC it was likely that La Nina would continue into the summer.

But this year's temperatures would still be way above the average - and we would soon exceed the record year of 1998 because of global warming induced by greenhouse gases.

The WMO points out that the decade from 1998 to 2007 was the warmest on record. Since the beginning of the 20th Century, the global average surface temperature has risen by 0.74C.
La Nina and El Nino are two great natural Pacific currents whose effects are so huge they resonate round the world.

El Nino warms the planet when it happens; La Nina cools it. This year, the Pacific is in the grip of a powerful La Nina.

It has contributed to torrential rains in Australia and to some of the coldest temperatures in memory in snow-bound parts of China.

Mr Jarraud told the BBC that the effect was likely to continue into the summer, depressing temperatures globally by a fraction of a degree.

This would mean that temperatures have not risen globally since 1998 when El Nino warmed the world.

Watching trends

A minority of scientists question whether this means global warming has peaked and argue the Earth has proved more resilient to greenhouse gases than predicted.

But Mr Jarraud insisted this was not the case and noted that 2008 temperatures would still be well above average for the last 100 years.

"When you look at climate change you should not look at any particular year," he said. "You should look at trends over a pretty long period and the trend of temperature globally is still very much indicative of warming.

"La Nina is part of what we call 'variability'. There has always been and there will always be cooler and warmer years, but what is important for climate change is that the trend is up; the climate on average is warming even if there is a temporary cooling because of La Nina."

Adam Scaife, lead scientist for modelling climate variability at the Hadley Centre in Exeter, UK, said their best estimate for 2008 was about 0.4C above the 1961-1990 average, and higher than this if you compared it with further back in the 20th Century.

Mr Scaife told the BBC: "What's happened now is that La Nina has come along and depressed temperatures slightly but these changes are very small compared to the long-term climate change signal, and in a few years time we are confident that the current record temperature of 1998 will be beaten when the La Nina has ended."
