How do you work it out?

Oh, and I always listen to podcasts. I find it excruciatingly dull to run without something to occupy my brain with.

I joined a CrossFit box a little over 2 years ago and think it is absolutely the best of possible workout regimes. I have never been stronger or more fit.
The workouts vary daily and if you are a newbie, you will need to gain some weight lifting technique from certified trainers. All ages, shapes and sizes do CrossFit There's a huge advantage as well whist working out with other CrossFitters- teamwork and encouragement. You find yourself achieving goals in a quicker & more enjoyable fashion.
Check it out if you have not done so. I travel internationally and have seen a CrossFit box in every city I have visited in the past couple of years.

This . . . . absolutely. I've been at it for 19 months and visit every box I can when I travel.

I checked the CrossFit box in Funky Town, they seem to be well educated and focused on what needs to be accomplished to get into a healthy life style.....The nutritional guideline blog looked excellent......

20 minutes on the treadmill / elliptical (rotate on alternate days.)

pulling resistance arm band for triceps (15x, 3 cycles)

lifting weights for triceps (15x, 3 cycles)

bench dips for arms(10x, 3 cycles)

Plank, for core (1 min, 3 times a day if I can help it.)

Flutter kicks, for abs (15x, 3 cycles)

I squeeze in 40 minutes for 4 days a week during lunch time, hence I normally only have time to do the 20 mins cardio, and 2 of the others listed depending on availability of equipment.

Ok, after doing my first obstacle run of the year yesterday I have decided that I really need to integrate more hill workouts / training into my routine. I just don't find that max incline on a treadmill really does it for me. So what I am wondering is if anyone has any good suggestions other than just running hills? I don't mind it, just seems a bit redundant.

Running stairs of any kind are extremely high impact for your knees, be careful what you decide to do......I would suggest something low impact......

i run on occasion, i hike in the mountains on others. and i go to the gym on occasion as well! mostly i mix it up, but really it is all a means to an end. i need to be strong to ski. and climb...

1 hour of hot yoga 3 times a week
1 hour of full circuit weight training 2 times a week
1 hour of spin 3 times a week
Saturday and Sunday I bike about 30 miles each day

I eat a pretty clean diet and enjoy yoga, biking, and weights. The key really is find something you love to do. I mix it up within the above to keep from boredom whether it be a new route, new weight routine, or new music. And PinkTacoKitty, you sound like you are in fitness or nutrition. I recognize your thought process. :)
