Thanks for your good advice and how do I search more efficiently?

First off let me thank you all for your great advice. I have been here for only a couple of days and already I know how to;

shave sensitive parts of my body without fear of itching, infection or blood

In the search function you can search for posts from a particular person, is that something that would be helpful?

And no, there is no spellchecker, although one sure would be useful.

There is no spell checker built into the BB software, although owners are considering possibilities for adding one.

If you have a mail program open while you're browsing, you can open a new e-mail and cut and paste into that to spell check and then cut and paste back into the newreply or newthread form. When you're done, close the new e-mail without saving it.

It's cumbersome and not worth the time for most posts, but for the occasional post where you don't want to look stupid it is the best way to spell-checkbefore submitting.

On the searchpage, you have the option, at the lower left part of the page, to "show results as threads" or "show results as posts." If you click on the search button under a post to earch for that user's posts, the "show results as threads is the default.

When you "show results as posts," it give you both a link to the thread and a link to each specific post that matches your search with a preview of the first three or four lines of the post.

If you choose your search terms carefully, and show the results as posts, you can often scan the results and go directly to the information you need. At the worst, you'll be able to weed out a lot of posts that don't answer your question.

If you take longer than 15 minutes to type your response, you time out unless you have "browse with cookies" and automatica login" set in your user CP.

I'm a "compulsive do-gooder" -- I can't NOT answer questions if I caneven guess close to the answer.

also if you narrow your search by choosing a specific forum to look in you may narrow down your search quite a bit, thats what i do. good luck finding what you are looking for!

Now how do I quote from more than one post in the same thread?

If I want to include something Weird Harold said I know how to do that but if I also want to include something Tatiana 1616 said how to I include that quote too.

If you hit the quote button at the lower right of each post, it will show you the syntax in action. You can manually duplicate what the quote button does and cut and paste the text from the last 20 posts summary under the reply box.

For example (with square brackets replaced) when I quoted your post the first text was:
"{QUOTE}{i}Originally posted by Minout {/i}
{B}"

That labels the quote as being from you and begins the bold type of the quote itself.

Don't forget the close quote tag when you edit a quote. You need both the start and stop tags for the vB tags to work right.
