Today's UK Sunday Times reports an study where an academic downloaded and analysed the pronoun usage of male and female writers. As part of this study, he is reported to have downloaded 79m words from Literotica.

How is that possible. I can read stories through my browser, (left side of the screen only) but cannot download them. Is this to protect against plagiarism?

He either had a bot that copied and pasted them or he manually went through and copied and pasted them.

You open the story in the browser copy the text and past it into either word or wordpad. Then go get the next page, and the next, and the next.

You can do a save link as but that only gets the first page.

I was going on a cruise, and wanted to read lit by the pool, but alas there was no internet on board to accomplish this.
I was disappointed to say the least.

Not that difficult to do

You open Internet Explorer as an ActiveX control then use the HTML document object model (described in any reputable HTML book) to scrape off the data. I've thought of doing it so I can read stories offline in places with iffy internet. Alternatively you could save the raw HTML and write a simple script to crawl through it - in this specific case, capturing the author's name and gender would be problematic so using the DOM to navigate would be more productive.
