How are you doing on your goals for 2023?

We're a little more than halfway through 2023, so it's a good time for self-assessment! Did you set goals for this year? How are they going?

For me, it's going pretty good. My goals were to get a story in at least 12 categories, to publish something on a pay site, to write for every event and contest this year, and to grow my follower count up to 2K.

The publication of Beloved Scars gets me up to 12, although one's a bit of a cheat; @elizaloo was kind enough to record one of my existing stories and suggested I post the audio on my account, which I'm so grateful for, but it feels a bit like cheating. I've got Erotic Couplings, Mind Control, Erotic Horror, and more planned for the rest of the year, though, so I should still be good.

Overcoming Burnout (which I have spammed all over AH) is up on Smashwords and other sites now; yes, it's a repost of the story here, but I'm partway through the next story in that anthology series, "Secret Lives of Superheroes," so pretty happy on this one, too.

I did miss one event this year; I got started on Tales of Leinyere too late, and I didn't like how the story was shaping up. But I've hit all the others, I've submitted for all the events up through the end of July, and I have at least story seeds for the others.

As for 2K followers? Cautiously optimistic. At 1527 this morning; as long as I keep up the pace, I think it's attainable. But even if I don't hit that number, I'm still pleased that people are picking up what I'm putting down.

So, how are y'all doing?

It all depends on what you do with all that chocolate ;)
I undress it.
I slowly sidle up to it.
I tell it in a low, smokey voice just how nice it is, how lovely, how delectable.
It melts, ever so slightly.
I caress it, give it a sultry look, lick the taste of it off one languid fingertip.
I touch it, arrange it, place it for easy access as I lower myself and trail the very tip of my hungry tongue over the contours of its body.

Then I eat it. All of it, thoroughly.

My goals posted at New Years
1. Finish my novel. Currently 36k words and about half-way and suffering a semi - existential crisis after my first round of beta reading (Odds - actually pretty high, as I still have basic faith in the story)
Haven't finished that novel (have hardly worked on it), but my April Fools entry expanded from 20k words to 40k words.
It's in a state where I could almost declared it finished but there's a whole bunch of changes I want to make (before next April!). I'm going back to my original ones after...

2. Clear out my drafts folder and get back to writing only one story at a time -ok, tops three. (Odds - dropped the number down from it's highest level of 7 to 5 this month, novel included, but then started a new one yesterday so it's very literally two steps forward and one step back. Having said that I can win at anytime by just doing control-a control-x and then finding my Abandoned folder, so this is a cinch)
Erm, so this went up from 5 to 20! I'm working to get it down again, I've finished 5 drafts in the past week to give me 15 incomplete stories, but some already have bounced back from beta readers...

3. Write a story in each sensible category on Lit. That is no chain stories, nonEnglish or, given my artistic and rhyming abilities, no illustrated or poetry either. (Odds - I'm already about half way through and my aforementioned new story is in the 'nonhuman' category which had previously been giving me trouble.)
The advantage of having so many drafts is I have something in the works for most categories, if I can only get them finished. Managed to publish not that Nonhuman story but a completely different nonhuman story as well as Group Sex. I did 750 words in Fetish and Trans and also a Loving Wives...

4. Get more than half of my stories with an H rating (Odds - currently at 8/20 so doesn't seem that hard but dangerous to attempt at the same time as experimenting with brave new categories, and I'm bound to shoot myself in the foot by attempting to radically revitalize each genre as I visit it - then again story culling is always a thing...)
Neither of which was good for my Red H ratio which has remained about constant at 40%. Loving Wives being what it is I was happy with 3.2 but the 750 workers were also around my lowest scoring ever. Oh well.

Overall I managed to give myself somewhat contradictory goals so it's maybe not odd I'm struggling. Whatever, I'm still enjoying writing.

For some reason, I keep reading Goats for Goals and I don't have any goats. o_O

I had goat for lunch for the first time yesterday, at an Indian restaurant. So that's one goat/goal down for me for the year.

I've managed to keep up with my 2023 goals at least to the minute, but medical issues are taking over for a while, I'm afraid.

I didn’t think I would have set any goals for the year, but I found the 2023 goals thread and saw this:

I want to write one story that includes elements from every story category. It’s my “all inclusive challenge“ idea. A family goes on vacation to an all-inclusive resort (see what I did there) where they have quite a wild time.

That story is roughed out but I haven’t worked on it in ages, and I have no desire to. What a dumb goal! :)

Goals are a bit too closely related to work for me. My only ambition any year is to write a story if inspiration strikes.

@NoTalentHack uh, I saw what you were trying in the story there, but since the couple were in the house naked and therefore unable to be watched, nor out in public in the nude, gotta question whether you get to tick the box on E/V. I mean, the back garden was Right There. You might need to go again to claim that category.

The standard you walk by is the standard you accept, right?

The went out into the backyard and had sex in the pool, AND the wife was in the foyer when the husband opened the door at the end. I'm catching up, and you can't stop me!

If one person is naked in front of another, and the person they're naked in front of gets turned on by looking, that counts as voyeur.

If a person is naked in front of someone and is turned on by being naked in front of that person, it counts as exhibitionist.

You had hot neighbours over a fence. The category was E/V. Chekhov had his gun all loaded. All I'm gonna say about that.

Oh, now that sounds like the beginning of a superhero nemesis soliloquy.

Geez, is it 2023 already? Guess I had better get busy. Oh wait, I don't do goals, nor go...
