"Housekeeping!"

Today I have a couple of ladies come in and clean my home.

It's rather odd because prior to this, I always thought that idea was such a silly one...having someone come in to clean your mess....in your space.

Typically I'm a rather anal person about my surroundings...so the house is rather well kept. At least this is what my family and friends tell me. (For a "bachelor"...I'm amazingly clean, I guess).

But...I feel "strange" about this. For several reasons:

Strangers walking through my home...most likely critiquing my taste.

Strangers going through my things...moving them and cleaning around them. Not to mention the stigma of actually having someone clean up after me. It's just odd.

Any of you have a person who comes in and does this?

Curiosity is killing this cat.

I should of also added that I was made an offer by two of my employees who do this type of work on the side to come in and clean for me.

This weirded me out even more...having my employees in my home, checking out my place.

Maybe I'm thinking about this too much. lol...but the strangers were a less-stressful option.

Funniest part is...I spent the better part of last night tidying up the place and moving stuff around BEFORE THE HOUSECLEANING WOMEN got there.

What a fucked up paradox that is. lol

I've done it a few times when we get behind, but what happens, is I have someone come over, and I clean along side them, so it gets done fairly quick, and cheaply. Th housekeeping services around here charge by the hour, not day, so it's much nicer to get it done as quickly as possible.

What if they quit or I had to fire them? Then what?! lol...not to mention that having them over even to clean is a hell of a invasion of my personal space, when I have to see them on a regular basis. lol

Right now my room is such a disaster and I KNOW it needs to be done, but I just can't bring myself to hire someone. What happens if the find that missing sex toy? Perhaps I'll clean and de-clutter when I get around to painting.

We had a housekeeper come in once a week when I was in highschool. It was in lieu of an allowance. I think I made out on the deal. The only room that was off limits was mine. She was great though. She was recommended by a couple of Mom's friends and she did a great job. Never went over the time she and my mother agreed upon and always was willing to modify her routine based on my mother's sometimes critical analysis of her work. I liked her. She did stuff I didn't want nor had the time to do with homework, a job, track, friends, modeling, and dating. I would recommend one to anyone who can afford one. It is worth it....but I would go with someone who's work has been recommended to you. Just my thoughts.

my husband very nicely supplied me with a maid for a short time after i gave birth.....what a wonderful man....it took a lot of the burden off me, so i could sleep instead of clean!!!!!

This one guy had a great library, it's where I read "The Story of O" the first time, and got caught with it.

I used to do the housecleaning bit. I assure you that they're really not thinking too much about your stuff or your taste. I never did. Cleaning is such a mind-numbing thing, I'd normally be thinking about other stuff I had to do that day, or problems, or singing a song in my head.
