The nice thing about sex toys is that your imagination is the limit. You'll simply have to experiment. I know a lot of women will try out various vegetables, shower massagers, bed posts, pillows... Basically think of anything that might put the right friction where you want it and/or fill you in a pleasurable way.

Hot wax can be a bit tricky because different candle waxes burn at temperatures. I've heard that the standard white candles that people use for light during blackouts have the most comfortable heat, but I'm sure its all relative to an individual's particular pain/pleasure threshold. Holding the dripping wax at different distances from your skin will also provide different temperatures. The further from your skin, the longer its in the air and cooling before it hits you.

Those toothbrushes are different from brush to brush and from woman to woman. My wife has tried a few and found that some vibrate in a way that actually hurts her, while a few others she found were just right or too weak.

Check out the Household + Food section of The Blank Manual sticky at the top of this forum. There are some great ideas on improvised toys in there.

Also, you might be able to get away with a less conspicuous toy like a "massager." My favorite is the Hitachi Magic Wand, but the Wahl 7-in-1/Coil is less expensive ($10 on amazon last I checked) and whisper quiet. A handheld shower massager like HnH suggested also works wonderfully.

Wax... toys

When I was still living with my parents I had this great little electric shaver that buzzed like crazy, that was my favorite!
As far as wax, get the real parrafin candles or make it a hobby to make your own (parents rarely question such hobbies and usually welcome them to an extent). You can make them any size you want for inserting or just light them and let them drip on your nipples or inner thighs to start. Keep a glass of water handy in case you get carried away and start the sheets on fire, LOL.

Soy candles also burn at very low temps. Most scented candles from places like Yankee Candle burn rather high I believe.

Only use paraffin wax. The rest burn at way too high a temp, you'll burn yourself. This is ESPECIALLY true about beeswax. You can easily get 3rd degree burns using them. (I have no idea about soy temperature)

My Master used the white emergency candles on me. He allowed the candle to burn inches from my bound body, and made me watch.
