Francois felt his eyes moisten. He couldn't believe what was happening.
"Baby?" he thought. He was going to have a baby with Vivienne - sweet Vivienne. He remembered all those times that they talked about babies and children. Everytime they finish making love, they would talk about her getting pregnant. He felt elated, but he wanted to hear it from her. Her words meant much to him than anything else in the world.
His thoughts took him back to when he was 15, she was there in the afternoon sun. They both were lying down, looking up at the big oak tree - it's leafs fluttering in the breeze. They held their hands like they do.
"What kind of kids do you want, when you get married?" he had asked.
Vivienne had turned around and given him a look that said she was amused, but not sure if she wanted to answer it. She was blushing.
"What kind of a question is that Francois?" she had asked him, with a chuckle.
"I don't know, I just thought.." he stopped. "I want a girl child, a beautiful girl...like you." he finished.
"Really?" Vivienne asked with a surprise in her tone.
"Yes" said Francois, unsure. Vivienne turned her eyes upwards to the fluttering leafs. "I think I will like a girl child too."
Francois was jolted back to reality when he felt tears streaming down his cheeks as he held on to her slender palm with both of his.
"Oh! Vivienne!" he cried "What have I done?" he had started panicking when he thought of the violence he had put her through few hours before.
What if he had hurt the baby in her?
