Human beings are exactly what homophobes are afraid of.Everybody knows what the pseudo-word "homophobia" connotes. That is not the same as what it means literally: fear of human beings.

If the roots of the word are examined, "homophobia" would be "fear of the same", or fear of a thing similar to oneself.
The root homo- is from the Greek, not Latin, where "homo" means man.

Is homophobia associated with homosexual arousal?
Adams HE, Wright LW Jr, Lohr BA.
Department of Psychology, University of Georgia, Athens 30602-3013, USA.
Abstract
The authors investigated the role of homosexual arousal in exclusively heterosexual men who admitted negative affect toward homosexual individuals. Participants consisted of a group of homophobic men (n = 35) and a group of nonhomophobic men (n = 29); they were assigned to groups on the basis of their scores on the Index of Homophobia (W. W. Hudson & W. A. Ricketts, 1980). The men were exposed to sexually explicit erotic stimuli consisting of heterosexual, male homosexual, and lesbian videotapes, and changes in penile circumference were monitored. They also completed an Aggression Questionnaire (A. H. Buss & M. Perry, 1992). Both groups exhibited increases in penile circumference to the heterosexual and female homosexual videos. Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile erection to male homosexual stimuli. The groups did not differ in aggression. Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies.

Homophobia is associated with gibberish.
I don't disagree. I simply have the opinion that "homophobia" is not the correct word.

Okay, here's a question: What word or phrase would describe your general feelings about homosexuals?
Is their sexual identity a variation of human nature, of no particular significance when considering an individual?
Do you believe they are a deviation from the norms of society, or a perversion of healthy sexual identities.
Feel free to add any other description, if needed.
If you give answers that make you sound like an ignorant asshole, I will deduce that you're an ignorant asshole, yes.Do I get burned at the stake if I give the "wrong" answers?
Then don't pick the axe up in the first place, huh?God made homosexuals, like he made everything else. I'm cool with that, no axe to grind, etc, etc. I can't believe people are still discussing this shit.
And some queers are not your best friends.Oh, yeah. Some of my best friends are queers.
A gay man is always afraid of his gaiety before he accepts his sexual leaning.

Believe it. Not only are people still discussing it, people are still being hurt. And some queers are not your best friends.
In fact, most of them aren't.
yes! And, yes!I laughed. I don't think I've ever seen "gaiety" used in that connotation. That's precious.
(And, I think, shows how alien this discussion is to LaRocha, no doubt to his great relief.)

Do I get burned at the stake if I give the "wrong" answers?
God made homosexuals, like he made everything else. I'm cool with that, no axe to grind, etc, etc. I can't believe people are still discussing this shit.
Oh, yeah. Some of my best friends are queers.
Bullshit. That is a environmental/learned response to a person's surroundings. Now that being "gay" is much more acceptable than it was, MANY young men and women never even go into the closet or feel fear. It just is what they ARE.
Puberty is universal anxiety over sexuality, everyone faces the same anxiety. So anyone who says they don't face fear and anxiety during puberty is probably not being honest; gay, trans, or plain. Traditionally, gay and trans people experience more fear and anxiety during puberty and into post-adolescence due to our culture's inability to ready them for a nontraditional role. Regardless, every gay man is at least as afraid as every straight man until each accepts their sexuality.
If homosexuality is biology, certainly is, then it will always be a small percentage of the population. Anyone who's a part of a smaller group has a reason to fear what the bigger part of the society is up to regarding them. Something like marriage is the unnecessary rendering of sexuality into law. Government shouldn't have anything to do with favoring any type of sex patterns.
God didn't make homosexuals or anything else. Homosexuality is still a magical mystery in biology.

Thank you, Bronzeage.People are discussing this shit because it is a relevant issue. Disputing the meaning of a the commonly understood word "homophobia" is disingenuous. Your argument sounds like, "homophobia does not mean fear of homosexuals, therefore, there is no such thing."
Check out androgen insensitivity syndrome and Gerald Edelman's thoughts about molecular embryology. Organisms are like Tinker Toys that fit together in many ways. And traits always regress to the mean if the organism breeds.
AIS usually means infertility. The sad thing is, the Sioux and various Native Indians were able to deal successfully with transgender people and made them fit into their society as is. Hormone treatment and surgery, making the individual more male or more female, isn't a healthy solution to the issue.

AIS in itself has very little to do with homophobia. The fact that AIS comes up in these discussions sometimes has to do with homophobia.AIS usually means infertility. The sad thing is, the Sioux and various Native Indians were able to deal successfully with transgender people and made them fit into their society as is. Hormone treatment and surgery, making the individual more male or more female, isn't a healthy solution to the issue.
