Ok, so I've been lurking around these forums for quite sometime but have never posted. Never felt the need to, as I can usually have my questions answered through vigorous reading. But now, I have decided it's time to make my debut. So here I am, in the cyber-flesh, so to speak, with a topic of discussion:

Homemade toys!

I want to know what your favorite homemade toys are. I've recently discovered how to make my own floggers and am having a blast with it! For a fraction of the cost of commercial versions, I can have my own custom stuff! So, what's in YOUR toy bag?

Well, thank you for making me feel even more like a n00b. I'll just go back to lurking and leave you regulars to your thing.

dont go away! keep posting. the more voices and opinions on this board the better it is.

Ya know, I don't really think so. I've seen this a lot in the past couple of years, which is the exact reason why I never posted before. But thank you! It has been educational!

i dont think that grace was trying to slight you in any way, only bringing up a thread from the past that related to your topic.

I wasn't trying to slight you, I was trying to help. But if you're going to be that overly sensitive then for all I care you can go back into lurking. I really don't give a damn.

I'm sorry. It's not over-sensitivity. A wordless link to another thread in reply to an attempt to gather opinions and strike up conversation comes across as rude, simply put. Perhaps a bit of tact is in order? Maybe if a small greeting had accompanied said link ("Welcome! That's a good topic, but it's already being discussed. Perhaps you'd like to join in over there?"), it wouldn't have been interpreted as something one would get from the PMSing customer service girl at a department store... "What you're looking for is over there, now go away."

i do believe you are taking it a little too personal. gracie was just trying to be nice and show you that there was a thread already made about it and maybe that thread would give you some more ideas. i see it all the time on this board, the same thread is started over and over again, sometimes even in the same week....i've even seen it in the same day, so try not to take things on a personal level. i did the same when i first starting posting here, and when i finally got over feeling like i was being attacked because i was the newbie, i soon learned that there is a great bunch of people on this board! ..welcome to our corner of Lit, and don't let a misunderstanding run you off......

oh, and just to add to the thread title *smiles* Master and i do not have many toys at all (bought or home made) but He did make His own 'rope flogger' and that thing has a GREAT sting to it. it's one of my favorites that He uses *grins* my other favorite is a purple (my favorite color) flogger that has rubber tines, kind of like rubberbands that are straight *giggles* and i LOVE it....but thats a store bought one, not one He made.....

Excuse me for taking the time to search for something for you. I absolutely hate the search function, but I looked that thread up for you anyway, cause I thought you might be interested in what we'd already learned. Then I returned to this thread to see what new stuff had ben contributed just to get a bunch of shit. And now I didn't make enough conversation. Pardon the fuck out of me.

And for future reference if I had meant 'What you're looking for is over there now go away, I'D HAVE SAID IT!'

Miss B if you have lurked at all you know that Gracie is one of the more sensitive woeman that we get to enjoy here on Lit. She is quick with a word of advice and freely gives us her cyber cookies even though she is like the cookie monster himself. Alot of people will do the same thing just so you as the new thread starter can look back at what has been said before. So take heart and know that you too might help something click for another lurker here on Lit if you keep posting.

Home Depot is My toy store.
I've made floggers, spreader bars, gotten 95% of my various ropes, setup swings, built St Andrew's crosses, gods, the list is too many, but All kinds from Home Depot.

The damn rope flogger broke on Me... mutters and grumbles about shoddily made.. oh wait, I made it...

I just need to figure out a way to reconnect the rope tines to than handle, because the rope I had connecting the rope tines to the handle broke...

I loved using that thing on her too...

Welcome Miss_B! i hope You don't decide to leave. The other thread that i started on homemade toys might come in useful. It has lots of ideas on it. Have fun!

i made a rope flogger too and it fell apart as well. It started coming apart at the ends. If it's made out of nylon, You can probably use burn the ends to make it all melt together and stay together. It gets hard afterwards which gives it an extra little bite.

Have you tried making the handle out of the rope? There was a link or directions or something RJ put up at one time that told how to make the one's that I make. I've been struck for hours with these and they haven't fallen apart. I do use a little fray gard at the base to keep the ends from un raveling too far....no lemme see if i can get a pic up

mine hasnt fallen apart on me yet, though it hasnt been used vgourusly as of yet only for teasing

I have always made the rope tines long and laid them down the wood and then wrapped a separate rope around them all in a spiral and knot in between the center of the tines. it's stops it from pulling out, but the fraying, that's on you. ;)

Homemade toys!

Homemade toys in my opinion are much better than store bought and the reasons are myriad.
One's own imagination is probably much more inventive than commercial designer.
When making a toy, one's delicious anticipation of its use can lead to fantastic artistry.
Making a toy makes it personal!

i discovered that adding tacks through cloths pins makes them a much more devilish item when pinned to any part ot the body

Beads

Tagua nuts are large egg, shapped nuts. Sometimes called vegetable ivory, they are extremly hard (buttons are made from them) and once sanded or carved, they can be polished, drilled and strung with silk cord.
