Hillary's slam on beauty pageants

At the end of the debate Hillary basically slammed beauty pageants in one of her vicious attacks on Donald Trump.

Clearly she has contempt for pageants if not outright hatred for them. Yet, the majority of people who watch these pageants are women. The majority of interest is from women. With strip clubs, porn on the internet, etc, most men don't give a rip about these things anymore and actually find them annoying.

This is just one more example of Hillary's disconnect with ordinary people including ordinary women. Many women admire the power of femininity and working hard to be attractive. They don't view the world as a paradigm of "male oppression" but enjoy being women. This is what pageants reflect, power through poise, grace, femininity, beauty, not trying to mimic men.

I agree. A lot of women in the US were shocked they still existed back when JonBenet Ramsey was murdered, I doubt more women have gotten interested since that time.

Scholarships and jobs. Miss Americas almost always end up with nice jobs. Not sure about Universe.
Anything below those is because you need them to move up to the big time.
I think most understand it's shit but if you're good looking and have the stage presence to win then why not? I don't blame the participants at all and it's hard to blame those who watch because it keeps getting put out there. Put a hot chick on the tv I'm at least gonna check it out for a minute.

That is not true of Miss America/Miss Universe etc. Those are adults making their own decisions, and very few were child contestants. The precocious five year old may be busted at 15.

Funny how so many people think that young women are too stupid to make an informed decision to enter a pageant on their own.

I enjoy watching Beauty pageants too, and I'm anything But the dizzy blonde IRL, since most of my spare time is spent reading.

I wish that they would take the too skinny or overweight (as is the new "curvy" fad now) out of the equation tho, and choose contestants with normal BMI instead.
It would be a good way to model healthy values for the teens who watch the show too.

There are a few idiots in that competition too, which is entertaining to watch as well, at the Q & A part : "I want to like save the children and like, end all the wars."

But you're right: a lot of those girls have college degrees or are in college.
And if you're lucky and drew the good genes card when it comes to beauty, why not use it to your advantage?

The vast majority of college freshman are adults. And scholarships are just as good for every year after that up to and including graduate schools.
Miss Universe must be at least 18. Miss America is 17.
