Not all right-wingers are racist.

The right-fringe on this board? Yes, many of them are. And your quiz will irk them.

Who was Peter Horry referring to when he said, THEY WERE MORE HELPFUL THAN SIGN POSTS WHEN THE BRITISH SEARCHED FOR US.

I was watching a few minutes of that USA WWII in Color show on PBS and the bits about the all-Japanese American and all-African American units, respectively, was on.

I'd heard of those two segregated units of course, but was unaware of their considerable distinctions.

The 442nd paid in blood for every honor they received. The late Daniel Inouye of HI was a decorated member of that unit.

The 332nd had a distinguished record as well. Not as many air-to-air victories as many other units, but considering they were operating out of the backwaters (Italy) and entered late in the war when the Luftwaffe was on it's knees they still accumulated an impressive record. Records show that bombers WERE lost by groups that they escorted, the raid on the Daimler-Benz works on 24 Mar. 1945 in particular, but on that same raid the group was credited with the downing of 3 Me-262's in air-to-air combat. One of the 4 remaining flying P-51C's is sitting in Polk City Fl. in Tuskegee Airmen colors.

Thank you...as I wanted to say this (the bolded section) but was not sure if my information was correct. (as I was trying NOT to cheat)

As for the other unit. I just spent the last 35 minutes reading about them. Very cool.

I guess PBS is wrong about Tukegee on the stats.

One of the other interesting facts was the latrines overseas were segregated, with the German POW's using the Whites latrine.

Amazing to think of how much personal strength you would need to put up with daily indignities from your comrades and still have enough pride in your country's values to rise above it.

pbs

are they the ones who use puppets to teach kids about homo's? "come over here little boy, elmo wants to show you his ....'

They made a movie of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry's role in the capture of the North Carolina fort during the Civil War, the movie is called, GLORY. But they also fought another battle down in Olustee, Florida. In Florida they got their asses handed to them. One of my kinsmen was the engineer who positioned the CSA artillery that chopped their asses off. Up in NC they were fighting old men and boys, down in Florida they were fighting young fanatics.

Bonafide Internet Hero, you are.

You and Vetteman should get together. He'll show you his two Navy Crosses.
