Hi guys well i finally reached my 100 posts :D and now i could do with a little help from all you clever really really really experianced people on lit, ok iv read the how tos on posting avs but now im stuck, can anyone give me any ideas on what to choose as an av and also once youv got them can you change them, id really appreciate some (nice) ideas, thanks

I guess I'd suggest looking around the net. Google some images about things that interest you. There are some good art sites that might give you ideas or something you like.

For changing the image I assume you mean resizing or changing the look of a picture, I use irfanView.com it's an easy thing to work with I think. I'm sure there are far more creative things that can be done but I'm not all that savvy on that front.

Good luck. Welcome to Lit.

Some people use self-avs. I don't know if that's something you're interested in or not.

You can change the image whenever you get tired of it.

Happy av hunting! :)

Thanks Eilan, i think iv found the perfect av, iv sized it and now im trying to add it and not having much luck!!! :nana:

Av hunting is one of my passions! I use Google images and type in anything and everything my brain can think of. Oh, make sure your preferences under google is checked to "do not filter my search" Then you get all kinds of naughty ones that can be used.

Maybe this will help? It's from the FAQ, courtesy of SweetErika:

Once you've reached 100, you may have to wait a few hours for the system to update. Then:
1) Log out of Lit
2) Clear your temporary internet files/cache
3) Close your browser (if you use multiple browsers, tabs, or windows, close them all)
4) Come back to Lit and log in
5) Go to the User CP>Edit Avatar
6) Refresh the page.
7) Click the Browse button, and upload the file.

You may also have to do this once you hit 1,000 posts and can create a custom title. Hope that helps. :)

Thanks for your help guys, but as you can see i finally (with a little help) managed to get it sorted, hope you like x

ok and i have a question too :)
i just posted in how do i...? and my attachment just comes up as a clickable file name is there anyway to make the image actually show in the post?

Yeah there is, i cant tell you personally but if you go into the how to its deff there. Sorry i cant help any more but good luck :)

I would like to say that one p would've sufficed in your title. And that is all.

Yes, there is a way. The image you want to show must be hosted on some website (not on your computer). Right click on the photo and then go to Properties - it will show the address. Copy that and when you get to the 'Reply to Thread' screen here click on the icon above that looks like a pic. of a mountain. It will give you [img= this is where you paste the address in. When done click 'close current tag' to the upper right.

Now all that said, the imagining function is NOT enabled here in the HT Cafe. It is on the other forums though.

Hope that helps.

HT stands for "How To." Hence, you'll see people say, "The HT Cafe" referring to the How-To Cafe or "The HT" referring to the How-To forum.

Voyeuresse, I mean this in the nicest way possible...

I know it's exciting to figure things out, and we often want an answer really quick so we can get the task accomplished. This community is pretty good about answering questions as soon as possible, and most of us are here to help each other and learn ourselves. A lot of us will put our own plans aside to help someone else.

So, it's not really proper to post your question in multiple threads or start the same thread in different forums. Doing so could be interpreted as somewhat rude and a waste of people's time and effort, though I'm positive that wasn't your intent at all. I know you haven't done it, but cross-posting threads is also usually frowned upon because often the thread starter will not like the answers s/he got in one forum, and will start the same thread in another seeking validation or a longer-lasting thread.

Please don't feel bad, afraid to ask questions, or unwelcome at all...I remember being new, having questions, and learning the subtleties of the etiquette here (hell, I'm STILL learning :D ). And I'm certainly not trying to embarrass you by posting this publicly... there are some other newer members in this thread, and I thought they might benefit from knowing too. :)

Anyway, welcome again, I hope you get all of the info you need, and look forward to posting with you in the future. :rose:
