Actually, in my humble and not so expert opinion, it all comes down to voice. If it is technically correct, use what ever sounds good to your ear. That is the essence of voice in writing and the flavor that differentiates one writer from another. Consider, after reading a few paragraphs you would never mistake a Steven King tale for a James Joyce story or an Issac Asimov for a James Patterson. Why? Voice, plain and simple.
