Help! My latest story posted today:

I'm so Naughty, Uncle Albert

and readers are not being allowed to send any feedback. They get an error message that says:
sorry, cannot send mail to sweetsubsarahh

I double-checked my Options and they say I do allow email (which hasn't changed since my last story posted) So - what do I do? Is this a site-wide problem today? The votes are nice, obviously, but I truly love the feedback! Ahhh!

Anyone know how to fix this problem? Is Harold around this evening??

OK - this must be site-wide problem - I can't send feedback to anyone else, either!!

I just sent a test feedback to you on your story DVD voyeur. I had no problems at all.

Either there is a widespread problem that doesn't affect my setup and settings, or the problem has been fixed.

Harold!

Could you try a test on my newest story? I just tried again and it still isn't allowing me to do anything!

Were you logged in?

Yes - it's my private computer at home and I just leave all log-ons/passwords permanently on.

I don't like this!! LOL

Delete all your cookies on the computer, relog in. :)

Thats what i would do...

Are you able to send feedback to any other users?

You know - that is a good idea, but the system appears to be working now!

Many people emailed me to tell me they were able to send feedback to me.

(of course, I have as of yet to actually receive any of that feedback - but it seems as if we're working in the right direction!!!) LOL

Thanks!

A lot of it depends on your IP address. Due to the way some ISP's dole out their IP's to their users, it can be potentially difficult to vote for stories.

It has always been my opinion that votes should come from registered users.

sweetsubsarahh,

I wanted to let you know that I had read your story the other day and had even voted on it. When I tried to send you feedback I couldn't get through. I was able to send you feedback this morning and, hopefuly, you'll receive it soon.

I did enjoy your story very much. But you can read what I wrote to you when it arrives...something to look forward to. lol

Have you tried PM-ing Laurel about it?

Yes, I did (though I posted this thread first, silly me!) She did need to be made aware of the problem, though. Thanks!

I totally agree about allowing only registered users to vote.

Two of the people who emailed me about this were registered; I don't know about the other two.

This is a minor problem and I'm sure it will be fixed very soon - it's just frustrating and very strange!!

Oh, thank you smilingblues! That made my day! (see - I'm such a feedback junkie!!)

Thank you for your kind words and I can't wait to read your email!!!!

sweetsubsarahh - Sorry about they problem you were having. As soon as Laurel forwarded this problem to me I checked the story and it looked normal from here. Can you PM Laurel or me with the specific error you were getting, if you remember?

The fact that Harold could send feedback but you couldn't is indeed strange. I'm not sure what might have been going wrong. We definitely want to try to figure it out. Sometimes there are database issues that get repaired, usually within a few hours, and maybe this was one of those, but I'm not sure yet.

As far as the voting issue, we are working on some improvements to the system that will hopefully address the non-member voting issue and also it should help encourage more people to login before they vote. As we've said before, there is really no way to fix all of the possible problems with internet voting, but we are currently working on some very specific improvements based on some things brought to our attention. I will say more when we have something in place.

Thanks a bunch for taking the time to let us know about this and also thanks to those of you that were helping to try to solve it! :)

Manu -

I just PM'd Laurel with the latest. I appreciate your quick attention to this, and now I am embarrassed because it is ALL MY FAULT!!!!

Laurel suggested I check Spam filters - no problem there - but apparently I had blocked the feedback Lit address myself! (I remember - I recently blocked the address of this creepy gentleman that wouldn't stop emailing me. He must have been emailing me from the feedback account) Ooops.

So - problem solved, but I'm truly sorry to have caused extra work for everyone. Thank you all for coming to the rescue so quickly! (This all took less than 24 hours from start to finish - pretty incredible!!)

Sarah
