I don't mind peel in fruit cakes etc. my marmalade has to be smooth.

I prefer my marmalade to look and taste like Nutella![]()
(and I'm fully aware this might start a war)Nope sorry Cherry, that stuff is horrible. Marmite on the other hand(and I'm fully aware this might start a war)
We can handle a warI'm a Marmite fan, love it and drinking it too, yum!

More of a bovril ran for drinking, takes me back to being a youngster at the football, mug of 'beef tea' on a wet, cold Saturday afternoon on the terrace.
Good to see you.Love it.
Always have.

Mmmmmm Nutella. The decadence I enjoy but rarely at a price I like. But I do love it.
Scandalously I have never ever had marmite. for some reason I think it just looks a bit too gritty but I could be completely wrong.
Aaaannnndddd I have never ever had Bovril either. Maybe I am very bad at being British..
I have to admit that I have been a bit turned off to Nutella once I found out it was mostly sugar and palm oil. Allia was the one who told me about it. I know she likes the Gü brand, which you guys have in the UK, but is not here yet. I have tried Justin's Chocolate Hazelnut & Almond Butter. It's good, but doesn't have the same sweetness.
I tried marmalade once, not a fan of the peel either.
I've only used Nutella as a bait to get the rats in the rat trap.
Good to see you.

Thank you, another bit of Klimt sparkle
Chocolate nut butter does sound rather delicious, I'll have to hunt that out after I finish the bucket of Nutella from Costco, I'm sure it will last until 2022![]()
I have a jar of nutella that's been in the fridge for 18 months.
Coopers Oxford thick cut marmalade is my special treat
Vegemite rather than marmite
Custard cream biscuits for dunking
Poly, you'll never get that nutella out of that jar without a chainsawI have a jar of nutella that's been in the fridge for 18 months.

I don't remember if that was one of the foods that Allia used to try to trap...Roland, was it?
All this nattering about food...
- Nutella: nasty stuff though at a festival I was given some churros with a little pot of Nutella to dip them in...very nice (though it was probably because I was so hungry)
- Marmalade: the peel is what makes it marmalade (surely?) - otherwise it's just jam
- Vegemite: Marmite is to Vegemite what Liberace is/was to Bobby Crush...a feeble imitation
- Dunking custard creams: Have you no self respect?
Now, to throw food lovers a curve ball (and as much as American cheese, by-and-large, is crap) one of my favourite 'arrived yesterday' breakfasts when visiting the US was wholemeal toast & grits with cheese and bacon and loads of black pepper.

) but you can't imitate something when you were invented first... Marmite 1902, Vegemite 1922.Tapioca - no, that was too much like frog spawn but semolina.... not too bad
Now I don't want to ignite the Marmite/Vegemite wars here (although there's a clear winner and it isn't Vegemite) but you can't imitate something when you were invented first... Marmite 1902, Vegemite 1922.
Good to see you.

Never had either of these, but had never even heard of bovril before being on an earlier iteration of this thread. I'm even worse at being British than you, NRP.![]()

I feel we may need popcorn now .........![]()
I was also thinking that about the Nutella. I dont know how long it will take to soften that bad boy.
Yes, we indulgers know the problem with refrigerated chocolate spread. It's not spreadable or lickable, it's almost a crime
Custard creams are the secretly most underrated biscuit ever. It never gets the love it deserves.
Got to take issue there. Plain chocolate digestives are almost an afterthought on most supermarket shelves, but so, so good. Custard creams I can take or leave. Mostly the latter![]()
