Or sitting on it.
Just missing a bit of butter (on a sad note, this will be my first deployment without my grandma sending me fruit loaf as she passed shortly after I deployed)
awwI've had many a Red Cross parcel in my previous life. Happy to oblige, won't be the same as your grandmas but it'll have good wishes

I used to have a lovely recipe for carrot cake and I'm sure it had raisins and walnuts in it ..... hmmm I'll look, it was nice but not as nice as coffee
I think we need a tea and cake hour on here![]()
I love Carrot Cake but I am allergic to walnuts so I usually end up making my own because most store bought ones have walnuts. I just use raisins but soak them overnight in spiced rum before adding to the cake.....very good!
I like coffee cake as well, no frosting so not the sugar overload and still very tasty.

Sorry to read this Ironfan...condolences.
I'm surprised nobody requested cheese with the fruitcake!
I’ll see your Colin the Caterpillar and raise you one Fudgie the Whale.

Heaven, though I do think, as this is Lit there should be a naked lady jumping out of it![]()

Not Wensleydale?
Bread pudding is lovely but bread & butter pudding is nasty stuff. Perhaps bread & butter pudding should be the only dessert allowed so I would lose some weight![]()
It is full of cream and rum soaked fruit though so calorie ladenI’m off out to meet friends and cake is most definitely on the menu
Or maybe that lovely cream tea above
Have a great Saturday, everyone x

Sorry to intrude into the cakefest, but could someone please point me in the right direction regarding my scones?
I have tried about 4 times to make cheese scones following several different recipes and they always come out like bullets.
I have made sure all ingredients were well in date, used the light fingers technique, threatened them when placing in the oven, all to no avail.
Thanks
I haven’t had a decent cream tea in years. I used to stay in a B&B in Castleton in Derbyshire, it’s closed now, and across the road was a cafe in someone’s garden. She did the best home made cream tea I’ve ever had washed down with a big mug of tea. The scones, jam and cream were all home made.
jam on first or cream on first?![]()

definitely cream first for me, if it's good old think clotted cream (don't let your imaginations go too wild gents) it's too heavy for the jam and it squishes it. The jam sits better on top in my humble opinion![]()

Sorry Cherry - you've got that all wrong! The jam sinks nicely into the scone and the clotted cream goes on top!
