Health Insurance question?

I've searched the web and haven't found a good answer. With all the backgrounds found here, maybe someone knows my answer.

First - If you get divorced, and your spouse's insurance covers you, is it possible to keep the existing insurance? Pay for it of course, but keep it.

Second - Where is a good place to look into insurance costs? This may seem easy to some, but the person who asked me to look this up is a cancer survivor and an insulin-dependent diabetic. Has always had trouble getting affordable coverage. Even her employers insurance won't cover her, without costing more than she makes.

It may be a shot in the dark, but someone might be able to help.

Thanx. :p

Depending on how the divorce papers are worded, the ex spouse may have to carry her for 3 years. Then she may be eligible for COBRA or any related type insurance program for a limited amount of time. Most of the major health insurance companies have websites. You can also check with your local Social Services, sometimes they have names of companies which have affordable premiums with the type of coverage she needs.
