Has Anyone ever owned a Sterling Car, a British Luxury Car?

I rode in a Sterling. Not your kind, this one has a few more ponies under the hood. And it makes a lot of noise. Ford had it then Freightliner bought it. The Volvo is more impressive.

*considers switching to pre-law briefly but recognizes her utter unsuitability for the field*

Oh well. I can't drive anyway.

this car is so damn quiet you dont even know it is on.

It is awesome, but I dont know anything about Sterling Motors and I cant find anything online about them so I am kinda frustrated.

I had a Jag XJS for a while. What a car. Smooth, quiet. Drove like you wouldn't believe and would cruise at 160MPH without a hiccup.

When Time did it's man of the year interview with Micheal Trump, Hmmmmmmm, in '86 I think, they asked him what was the best thing about being as rich as he was. He said "I can now afford to drive a Jaguar."

I sold the car a month later. :D

a friend of had one for a while. they're actually japanese--i forget which of the major manufactureres, like toyota or datsun.

not a terrible car, but it's been replaced by lexus, acura or infinity or one of those. you'll have trouble getting parts.

the friend's broke apart in arizona. i think it's still there.

I had an aunt and uncle (who are a little loco) who bought a used Sterling. The stupid thing wouldn't die...they drove it around the country for years...I think they owned it for 7 or 8 years. They never had any problems with it, it was incredibly quiet, a great ride and they loved it. I don't remember why they chose not to buy another one to replace it when that one broke down. I'm sorry I don't know more about the car...I just remember my mom saying that her sister (my aunt) was driving a car "one step down from a rolls".

I'd say it is a great car and you'll love it. Then again, I drive a Corolla, and anything is better than a Corolla.

Who the hell is Micheal Trump?

My dad bought a '74 Jensen-Healey off eBay for $800. Cosmetically, it's in pretty good shape, but the engine needs major work. He's thought about just giving up. One of his plans is to take the engine from his old Ford Ranger and drop it in there. If he does, I'll slap him. Not that I know a lot about English cars, or even cars in general, but it's just wrong to put a Ford Ranger engine in a car like that. It would be like taking the engine out of an F-150 and putting it in a Dodge Viper.

Drive it like you stole it.:)

What good is a car that you cant make sweat? Cars like being called to the stand. Makes the car's life worth living.

Ok. Pamper your little milk-toast car. Just stay in the right lane if you see a 72 buick in the rear view. (or a 97 F150 or a 00 LeSabre)
