There's a lot of things I'd like to see changed in this country. Of course we've got problems, it's a big country. Today is a day to celebrate the good things and focus on them, like freedom and opportunity. It's a day of celebration. So fire up the barbecue and find some fireworks tonight if you can. Peace.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

Artist: Lee Greenwood
Title: Proud To Be An American

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

And I’m proud to be and American,

Amen. Uh-oh. Now I've mixed church and state. I am in soooo much trouble. Have a happy Fourth, everyone.

Happy Independence Day, all

"There's no crying in baseball!" Go play some baseball.

Amen. Uh-oh. Now I've mixed church and state. I am in soooo much trouble. Have a happy Fourth, everyone.

We'll forgive you this once. Unless you were hoping to be disciplined. Someone around here must have a whip.

Or, in a pinch, just read some baseball. Why, there happens to be a link in my signature! What a coincidence.

We'll forgive you this once. Unless you were hoping to be disciplined. Someone around here must have a whip.

I gotcher fireworks right here, baby. What? It's a porn site!

For Christabel -

Independence Day, as done by Bruce Springsteen

Well Papa go to bed now, it's gettin' late
Nothin' we can say is gonna change anything now
I'll be leavin' in the mornin' from Saint Mary's Gate
We wouldn't change this thing even if we could somehow
Cause the darkness of this house has got the best of us
There's a darkness in this town that's got us too
But they can't touch me now and you can't touch me now
They ain't gonna do to me what I watched them do to you

So say goodbye, it's Independence Day
It's Independence Day all down the line
Just say goodbye, it's Independence Day
It's Independence Day this time

Now I don't know what it always was with us
We chose the words and, yeah, we drew the lines
There was just no way this house could hold the two of us
I guess that we were just too much of the same kind

Well say goodbye, it's Independence Day
It's Independence Day, all boys must run away
So say goodbye, it's Independence Day
All men must make their way come Independence Day

Now the rooms are all empty down at Frankie's joint
And the highway she's deserted clear down to Breaker's Point
There's a lot of people leaving town now, leaving their friends,
their homes
At night they walk that dark and dusty highway all alone

Well Papa go to bed now, it's getting late
Nothing we can say can change anything now
Because there's just different people coming down here now and they
see things in different ways
And soon everything we've known will just be swept away

So say goodbye, it's Independence Day
Papa now I know the things you wanted that you could not say
But won't you just say goodbye, it's Independence Day
I swear I never meant to take those things away
