How many entries are there?

And is any story really out there in frist?

I just counted 100, I don't know if there's more that are not on the page.
No idea who's in first, I betcha if they put it up, there'd be a major troll attack on it.

THEY never post it, probably for that very reason.... I have NO desire to even try but it is possible to unofficially check... just go looking for the scores in the TOP lists. course you have to look for each of the 100 stories and keep track of the leading scores. One also runs into things like the top list keeps the top 100 scoring stories in each category. In categories like romance the scores are so high that a winning story in this contest might not be scored high enough to be listed.

So the answer is.. it's not posted but if you want to try and figure it out... after hours and hours of work... you are probably not gonna get an answer...lol

no thank you!!

:)

Just having fun reading, voting and commenting..

As DP and I can attest, no matter how close you check the scores, they are constantly changing. One second after Laurel locks in the final scores, there's a good chance they'll change.

The Lit contest system isn't perfect, but it's not bad and besides, how many such systems are? The US presidential elections, not hardly. The Olympics, no way. The Booker, Pulitzer, National Book Award, not ever close.

IMHO, the contests have three things going for them. They are: fun, free, and have cash prizes. That's a fair enough trade-off for me.

*smiles* I love the contests, if i didn't ,I'd not even be trying to do a story for this one -halloween just isn't me! I couldn't resist the lure of this thread, the extra reads, votes and feedback, so here I am. Warmingup for Christmas -now theres a holiday I can get behind!

You can use NaNoWriMo to write your Christmas entries, and those for next year's Valentine's Day, Earth Day, Nude Day etc. You would just have to wait before posting.

RF.. I gotta agree... it ain't worth the trouble to check scores.. besides 4.45 doesn't leave me thinking i have ANY chance.. now If I had a 4.7.... I might be tempted to check... but been there... done that.. and welllll.. it's wasted effort.

fun, free and cash prizes? well for me no cash but hey... you forgot all the extra views and pc's and f..fe...fee...feedback (that was tough to say this time).

Some consolation for those of us who don't win: Immediately after a win, your score PLUMMETS.

too many, but none on a christmas theme... yet. ;)
Remember, it's not a Christmas contest, but a winter holiday theme contest. Feel free to use any special event at that time of year or just a seasonal deal such as a skiing weekend or snowbound in a mountain cabin, etc.

rumply pumply is (as always) right, you don't have to be christmassy, just winter-er-y.

i have absolutely no idea what 'that' is... but it sounds baaaaaaaad. ;)

After I wrote that monster moth story for the last contest, we've been invested with them. Little tiny buggers that lived in the pantry and have now moved into the kitchen cabinets. They seem to live in dog chow and starches, like flour, rice, breakfast cereal. They're impossible to get rid of.

Now I'm afraid to write anything.

I might skip this one. I've got three false starts so far, and I mean long false starts. Two-days-of-writing false starts. If I used a typewriter I'd be knee-deep in crap.

It's not easy being cheesey.

Dr M - write about hot, nubile women. I think you could live with a plague of those *nods*

I never heard of the Pussycat Dolls but I can imagine, from the name, what their act would be like. I wokd probably love it and it might give me some story ideas.

Eartha Kitt recorded it, I believe in 1953, and a sequel the following year.
