The 44th vote just dropped it to 4.20. Og, you are bound to "win" if you make up the rules as you go along.

Those rules have been the same since the first last place contest. The only change is that I have banned myself. :D

Rules for Last Place contest.
****

Order for coming last:

Lowest voted rating for a genuine attempt at a story multiplied by number of votes if less than 25 divided by 25.

So - if rating is 3.00 but only 12 votes the score would be

3.00 x 12 / 25 = 1.44

If rating is 3.00 but more than 25 votes, the rating stays the same.

I suggest ignoring number of reads except as a tie breaker when least number of reads would *win*.
****

Since the 'winner' actually wins nothing, it is pointless to cheat. To enter, all you have to do is declare your rating and votes at the time the real contest is decided. Participation is entirely voluntary.

Og is banned from entry for life because he finds coming last too easy and is a past multiple winner of last places.

For the last place contest, 1 votes are very valuable and 5s are bombs.

Og (whose decision is final unless you all gang up on me)

Okay, question. I might (read as probably won't) manage to slip one in at the last second, meaning it's a long way from written and will most likely be long, as I tend to be long-winded. I'm guessing that, if I do get it in in time (or ever finish it for that matter), I'll still be lucky to pull a single vote out before the winner is calculated. That being said, are there a minimum number of votes to be involved in the last place contest? I pretty much know I won't be eligible for the regular contest. My last story has still only accumulated 19 votes, and it's been months, over half-year, I believe, since it's posting. I don't want to jump in and knock someone off the honorable Last Place simply because I talk too much.

If you don't manage to get a single vote you will be the certain winner of the Last Place Contest because 0/25 x rating of 0.00 = Zero.

Og

So, if I write a non-erotic story and turn it in on the last day, it will get very few votes. Maybe one, but let's say that one is a five from someone who wants to sagatoge my chance at winning the booby prize. I would then have:

1 X 5 = 5.

5/25 = 0.20.

That would certainly be a contender for low score. If I had a five and then a troll hit me with a one-bomb, that would give me an average score of 3. The result:

2 x 3 = 6.

6 X 25 = 0.24.

In other words, that troll would have actually improved my score!

If I write a Halloween poem, like I used to do when I was ten years old, that might get even fewer votes. That would be a sure loser.

What got me, when I did the math, is that, if I got a single vote, at a 5.00, then I'd still only pull a .2 by the ratings formula. I don't pull high votes, so i didn't want to be unfair to people involving themselves here.

I am sorry that I was not around when you first posted up the post about leaving the contest and the site.....

At one time or another we have all written something that the masses for whatever reason did not like the story.... believe me early last year I wrote something that had my feedback thing filled every bloody day.....

it passes.... it goes away.... and you wrote what you wrote...

something that some seem to forget each time they read something is that it is FICTION.....

Forgive my emotionality at the time.... it's hard to be objective after reading about 5 feedbacks with about the same message.... "You sick bastard... if I could find you, I'd snuff out your insignificant life".. course they all came from the same writer despite different styles and significant differences in the quality of the spelling and gramar...

Anon was busy that week....

And it does indeed die down.... all the comments seem to come in the first few days.. then it all fades to obscurity...

What can I say... score wise I pose no threat to anyone.... 22,000 views.... 147 votes... score..... 4.43

Healing comes with time.. and I'm alll better now... besides.. to give up writing? I'd rather loose my brain... no wait.. I already lost that!

Good to hear that the feelings have passed.

I know that each time I write some part of me is out there, some part of me that is vulnerable that I think on one hand to protect and on the other hand to allow it to feel all that it can possibly feel so that I can learn new things about myself and the world around me....

Good luck to you in your writings

The formula is intended to reflect the failure to reach 25 votes and therefore not be eligible for the main contest.

If you get x thousand views and only 6 votes you must have done something wrong (or be me!)

The usual explanation for only a few votes in the competition is a poor title and/or description OR a story so long that readers give up before voting.

That may be so, but I like to think that, when reading one of my stories (except for the Halloween one) people get wet :rose: or hard :nana: very early, and start wanking or frigging while reading and get off long before they finish the story. :) Once they have accomplished their purpose, they stop reading and usually don't leave a vote or a comment. ;)

At least, that's what I like to think.

Hell of alot of amazing writing

Good luck to everyone

Morning, EL. I came to check on things here, Abs joint is empty.

Us husbands turn out to be useful for all sorts of unexpected things. Though most of us do our best to keep that a secret.

Congratulations on finishing the story. I know it was a harder task than usual so here's a second CONGRATULATIONS!

My 4th entry is posted. Links to all in my signature.

I will be interested to see what happens to all 4. The essay seems to be stimulating discussion about Halloween and Guy Fawkes. Close to the 400th anniversary of Guy Fawkes death he could do with some exposure.

There are times when successfully emulating him has seemed seductively attractive but wisdom says 'this too shall pass...'

I think this contest is attracting more entries than any contest so far in Lit's history but even so is from less than 0.1% of Literotica's membership.

I think most of the membership are non-writers, aren't they? I know that it used to be possible to go to the member index and see page after page with zero writing finished.

I think i'm gonna give up now *L* my little tale as no hope whatsoever with so many entries! :D

I think so. I think a lot of people sign on to play around on the forum boards.

How many entries are there?

And is any story really out there in frist?
