I noticed that too, and I figured it was the ones I'd read... but then when I go back to the page, I KNOW there are stories that I've read that are now black (instead of red) again... weird...

You may have your history setting, well, set for zero. There's a way to change that so links you've clicked will stay "marked" for whatever length of time you prefer. On the other hand, I'm probably all wrong. It's been known to happen, especially with 'puters.

Number of votes don't count anything, as long as you have the required 25 to be eligible. It's strictly on score.

I've got a hunch they do that so folks won't just pick categories that get a lot of votes, such as incest.

No guarantee the 4.9 is a better story. It might be in a enormously popular category that touches all the right buttons for the connoisseurs of that particular cat.

Same might go for the 5.0 story.

That's the problem with voting, it applies a numerical rating to something that can't really be measured.

Shrugs, I'll live with it. The comments I've been getting have been wonderful. That's enough for me.

That's how some of us get the chance to have the honour of being Top Story on Literotica for a few hours.

Ratings aren't visible to anyone but you until you have 10 votes. If all 10 voted a 5 your story suddenly appears with a perfect 5.00. It doesn't last long...

Og who was very happy for about 2 hours.

It would work that way, even if one writer had 25 votes, every one of them a five, and another writer hat 149 votes of five and one of four. On the top lists, they would both round off to a 5.00 score but the one with 25 votes would win the contest. Of course, the chances against either score ever being posted are astronomical.

Last Place (TM) Competition Rules

Rules for Last Place contest.

Order for coming last:

Lowest voted rating for a genuine attempt at a story multiplied by number of votes if less than 25 divided by 25.

So - if rating is 3.00 but only 12 votes the score would be

3.00 x 12 / 25 = 1.44

If rating is 3.00 but more than 25 votes, the rating stays the same.

I suggest ignoring number of reads except as a tie breaker when least number of reads would *win*.

Since the 'winner' actually wins nothing, it is pointless to cheat. To enter, all you have to do is declare your rating and votes at the time the real contest is decided. Participation is entirely voluntary.

Og is banned from entry for life because he finds coming last too easy and is a past multiple winner of last places.

For the last place contest, 1 votes are very valuable and 5s are bombs.

Well, I've got you beat then because, a few minutes, it stood at 4.23 for 43 votes. And that's after at least one troll dweep when it went from 51 votes for 3.75 to 27 votes for 4.15. Since then, it has been slowly rising but will never get a H

If I only have 11 votes then my rating is multiplied by 11/25.

I'm a glutton for punishment. Not content with being bashed by trolls for one essay and two stories I have just submitted my THIRD story.

I think everyone has great stories....my stories pales in comparision...but all my stories do...

The 44th vote just dropped it to 4.20. Og, you are bound to "win" if you make up the rules as you go along.
