What does the leaked screenplay from Sony's 'Spectre' movie show?

In my view that it is worthwhile having these leaks happen, actually. Producers are exposed to a kind of 'quality control' before they get the chance (as they do normally) to drop a completed production costing zillions onto the abused public. And when their own doubts are shown publicly, then what many people have been saying for the last quite a few Bond flicks in particular, starts to appear to have grounds.

As I have indicated in a number of different posts here and elsewhere, so-called 'earnings' from these major franchise movies are not genuinely reflective of actual ticket sales to actual movie goers who go specifically to see the movie in question: the current process of distribution involves a number of pre-contracted annual 'must take' movies for which the cinema complexes must guarantee a set number of sales, and then they add actual ticket sales on top of that and come out with a number for accounting purposes. And then there is a very complex system of costing the general marketing of movies through main cinemas, and specific movie title budgets get caught up in this whereby the final 'earn' includes 'donated' marketing budgets from either failed other movies' budgets or 'deals' with smaller productions. And then the whole thng gets grossed up to look like a major blockbuster happened - which it didn't. But the franchise is preserved as a brand leader.

Bond movies have seriously declining actual movie-goers.

And this current leaked screenplay appears to show, even to the minds of the production chiefs, totally immoral incidents that would come across as unacceptable even by today's audience standards, meaningless relationships and actions (too many trains, in this one!), and a pointless 'villain' at the end and a simple-minded and undramatic, uninteresting ending.

The one notable thing that I drew out of it, though, was the (largely rl correct) concept that MI5 had been taken over by MI6 (or vice versa, too not sure personally) and that because of it Bond himself is becoming obsolete... One way or the other, there is sound rl reporting which indicates the electronic signals and data parts of the security establishment has taken the political and the funding ascendency.

And then, flowing from this, is this trend in the recent films to take Bond increasingly into a 'rogue' context. Personally I don't see how this enhances or advances the franchise at all.

And also, there has been a strong trend to introduce all kinds of various 'family' members of Bond or 'M' or someone, some of whom are the villains, or gay villains, or lunatic AS WELL AS gay villains - I mean, this is ridiculous in the extreme. What is the point of it all?

The claim is that a state organization of some kind was behind these hacks of the Sony Movie Entertainment Division, and that possibly it was North Korea.

I don't think North Korea is that smart, do you?

The one good thing about total transparency is that it stops all this 'media tornado' of hyped junk that accompanies everything from yesterday's people - and you begin to see what a rank mess the whole traditional industry is inside of itself.

It is going to have to change or die, or simply die.

I suspect Obama did the hack to encourage Hollywood to donate more money to Democrats and stand by him.

Heh - that's not a good strategy.

Part of what have been leaked are the complete financial records of the company and all executive e-mails up till mid November. If Sony Entertainment has contributed to any political party within the last decade it will now be out in the open, including who, when and how much.

There is even a plot-bunny in it: The leaked materials includes gifts and private purchases made by high ranking Sony employees, so imagine if a boss is recorded as having bought some expensive jewellery, but his wife never received any. Or if there are records of double-rooms in expensive hotels from business trips where his allegedly went alone...

Presidents usually offer corporations the FBI or IRS or both when the President wants money or influence or whatever. Now Presidents can hack your IT and spill the beans on you. Imagine the hysteria if word got out that FOX is loaded with queers.
