Or as one of my professors refers to them "Comfort food for the Soul".

So when life sucks; you have too many classes and your car is dead and it is a rainy day and you are tired, sick, grumpy or all three and your dead end job just got deader or endy-er and you just want to give the whole world a mighty "Fuck You! (and the horse you rode in on)" and crawl in a hole and hide for the next millenium or so, what do you do? What guilty pleasures do you indulge in until you feel a bit better?

My thing is old movies, the schmaltzier the better. I like to curl up and eat popcorn and cocoa and just watch old movies. Casablanca is usually good for a broken heart, (mine has never been broken that bad), Little Women is good for the blues in general, and Roman Holiday just rocks.

So what is your guilty pleasure?

Have to admit my escape used to be to get lost in music, buit these days I find much more relief and comfort in getting a good session full of pain, so beg away I do if he does not pick up on my mood immediately. Usually works the same for both of us so is not seen as too much to ask.

Very Cool, I do not indulge in the same way, mostly because I do not have a partner. To release that sort of emotion requires a bond stronger than that of general playmates.

P.S. Francisco! STALK!!!!!

Cartoons or old favorite books of mine. I'm highly into Sealab 2021; it's always good to cheer me up. When I'm feeling more lethargic than depressed, I curl up with some fantasy and let a few hours disappear. Cookies are nice too--never got into ice cream therapy.

music definetly, but i do not turn on the radio, bc everything that day will remind you of That Day and even the radio is against you.

empire records, hedwig and the angry inch, and a mideival fantasy novel ... some sleep, sometimes I even come here on Lit and keep a thread i started alive for most of the day if I can... a bath, mmm (that sounds good right now actually) home cooked meal - cooking is definetly something i love to get lost in, and to go to bed earlier then usual... your subconscious sleeping self sorts through things for you ... I always feel a little more uplifted in the morning.
((and sunday is cartoon day... simpsons kick it off, adult swim on cartoon network -which includes sealab 2021 hehe...- and the critic and duckman close my night with comedy central))

Hello Kitty. I discovered her at a time when I was very depressed a few years ago, and I found she really cheered me up. I've been addicted ever since!

I  Hello Kitty! Did you know they even make a Hello Kitty vibrator? And a toaster that toasts her face onto pieces of bread! Target is a fab place for finding Hello Kitty items that adults can use (TVs, cordless phones, computer speakers, lamps, fans, blowdryers, bathroom decor, etc.)

As for my guilty pleasure, I used to go to Victoria's Secret and buy new panties. For some reason, this always made me feel better. Unfortunately it escalated into me buying $70 jeans. I decided it was better to stay away from the mall when I was depressed. I actually find it nice to get online and chat with people I don't know. I want human interaction, but I don't want to talk about my problems, and with people online, they don't know about whatever is bothering me, so it works. Or I pet my dog and talk to him.

mine is literotica......reading and exploring through others eyes

Masturbating always helps a lot

Don't know about that, but I once had an awesome orgasm in a traffic jam when a particular Chris Isaak chord did the unexpected for me with no physical help from myself....wish that could happen more often.:D

'What a wicked thing to say
you never felt this way...'

Hmmm.

You say "guilty pleasure"....there are things that I do to unwind that I feel slightly guilty about, and then there are things that I do that I NEVER feel guilty about.

So, I'll split them up, LOL.

No Guilt Whatsoever

When I'm in need of that sort of rotten day pick-me-up, a session with Sir is just the thing. Gets me right back on track, and centered again.

If He's not available, and I'm feeling down in the dumps, I tend to read my old, favorite books. Ones that I've read literally a hundred times; Dune comes to mind and a old favorite.

Guilty Pleasures

Trashy magazines (i.e. Cosmo). I always feel slightly guilty reading this one LOL. But I can't resist.

Watching "chick flicks" (i.e. Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing) over and over (I've seen them too many times to count). Again, I feel guilty LOL.

So there you have it. My deep dark guilty secrets.

I'll take a session with Sir anytime, but sometimes.....I just have an uncontrollable urge to watch Pretty Woman LOL!

I do lots of things, but the one I use most often is to curl up with a trashy romance novel and zone out. I read a lot of fantasy anyway, but I feel guilty for reading those because they mostly are the same, and there is no broadening of my mind. Lmao... yall know the ones... the hundred and fifty page harlaquin romances?

Oh, and Anelize, I watch those movies over and over too, but I just cant feel guilty about it. :)

just wanted to say that i enjoy your tastes in music!

Hrrrmmmm...

*decides lurkdom is not for her*

I try to stay away from calm, depressing or quiet things... I am a recovering cutter, so I stay as far away from Evanescence's Bring Me to Life as I can... "bid my blood to run, before I come undone", it ALWAYS gets me... So, I pop in some Less Than Jake, my hip hop-ish mixed CD, or my Britney Spears CD(which has a very special connection to my best friends) and just bounce around the room... or watch some of those Suprised by Design-type shows ^-^ I've always wanted to be on those shows... LoL... I stay away from the internet, tho.. it tends to get me more depressed, the fact that I have no in real life friends... o_O Or I sleep! It's the redeamer of my soul ^-^
